...by my own parents!

I live abroad. Skyping the folks as they are travelling to Goa for 2 months tomorrow. Took a bit too long getting tea ready, bathing kids etc and my mum phoned saying - it's too late too Skype now we are going to bed early and we want to watch strictly.

It was 5.30.

AIBU to feel rather miffed to be blown out for Brucey et al? It's not the first time either !!!

They are being completely BU. everyone knows that if you pause it for 20 mins at the beginning you can watch it and forward through Bruceys bits

Unless of course they can't pause live tv in which case they are being perfectly reasonable. Grin

If anything like.my mum she wont trust the pause button Grin

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 19/10/2013 19:01

They have a computer - time to tell them about BBC Iplayer .

picnicbasketcase · 19/10/2013 19:02

Anyone who watches Strictly is automatically unreasonable in all of their works and deeds. The title doesn't even make bloody sense, never mind the content.

ObtuseAngel · 19/10/2013 19:03

Oooh, Strictly.

Grin
RedPencils · 19/10/2013 19:04

It won't be on Iplayer till tomorrow though.

Strictly didn't start till 630. Going to bed an hour early so as not to miss it is hardcore.

Scholes34 · 19/10/2013 19:05

We've previously bowed out of a dinner party for Eurovision. Is that worse?

candycoatedwaterdrops · 19/10/2013 19:05

YABU, Strictly is not the same if it's been paused. How can you follow on twitter?!

RedPencils · 19/10/2013 19:08

OP, would love to stop and chat but I've got to lock the DCs under the stairs before Artem and Pasha are on. Sure you understand.

space21 · 19/10/2013 19:13

They can pause live tv.

They have a pc, android and iPad and can just about watch iplayer providing they don't have to pause and replay!

They also record the ENTIRE series so they can have a Strictly marathon (at least twice).

Dont think they are tweeters :)

My dad hasn't even met DC2

you can skype me. I hate shrieking reality shows full of low-rent talentless slebs. Or low-rent talentless non-slebs, come to that.

once upon a time, summer was crap TV season. Other way round now.

Boardingblues · 19/10/2013 20:00

It would be YABU if it was X-Factor...

WillSingForCake · 19/10/2013 21:41

Once I rang my mum & she said "is it ok if I ring you back later - I'm watching Ladette to Lady". Now that's being blown out for crap TV!

candycoatedwaterdrops · 20/10/2013 11:43

I was kidding about the tweeting thing, I do think that YANBU. Would it hurt to pause it?

mrsjay · 20/10/2013 11:48

my friend moved to ENgland and we would phone once a week but I had to phone before or after 7.30 because corries was on and never on a tuesday as she also watched Holby (or something) sigh

OP yanbu they do sound quite selfish but if they are travelling how can they watch strictly it wouldnt have been on Iplayer yet ?

Whatdoiknowanyway · 20/10/2013 13:51

I remember being away in my first year at university, finding enough coins for the pay phone and then queuing up so I could speak to my mum. She clearly wasn't giving the call her full attention and, when challenged, admitted that a celebrity of the day was on TV. I hung up (not that i bear a grudge more than 30 years later or anything...)
YANBU

My MIL missed the first dance on our wedding day. A few of the other guests asked where she was. She'd gone up to her hotel room to watch Strictly.
