On wednesday I had a minor op under general anaesthetic. Day surgery, had to be there at 8am I left at 5.
DH had 3 days off. (Wed, thurs and fri) my 3DCs have got heavy cold, hand foot and mouth and have had yesterday off with the teacher's strike.
Its all been about him! He has a cold. His words when he picked me up from the hospital were 'you have no idea how awful I feel'. No dear I've just come round from a GA with hips that have obviously been pushed beyond their limit!
Kids are crying in pain..I look after them. They need medicine ... I go buy it. On thursday morning I made breakfast for all 5 at 7am after 3 hours sleep and tea at 5pm.

Sounds like it was all just pitch in, his cold wasn't as bad as what you had to suffer but with 3 DCs who were all ill too it'd probably be too much for one person who didn't have man flu a cold.

Im not too bad thanks. Mild pain and tiredness but found the 'Mammy reserves' of energy and sorted myself out. Thing is...if he'd been at work it would all have been left to me so the op actually let me have a slight reprieve even though I still had to be the one up in the night

Thanks for that. Feeling a bit sweeter towards DH this morning. He got up all through the night with DD2 and her cough (and his daft car alarm!)

Oh God, I feel your pain! Sympathies to you!

Seems it's quite common (quite a few friends have given some similar accounts)
