to be heartbroken about dds baby teeth

Dd had a fall over the weekend and injured her mouth and front teeth. She's almost 5 so would have lost her teeth shortly but after brushing her perfect little pearly whites since the corrupted through her gums at 6 months it looks like she's going to either lose her front teeth or they might go grey.
Dentist Saud the grey was a kind of bruising in the tooth. Anyone's dcs had a tooth go discolored after a trauma?
I know they're only baby teeth but I'm so upset. Dh thinks I'm majorly over reacting

my ds1 has a grey front tooth from a tumble age 5. over a year later it still hasn't gone! I did the same, lots of photos of me when little with a grey tooth. my dad did the same too. loads and loads of kids do.

If they are baby teeth I really wouldn't worry too much.

My 9yo dd recently fell and smashed both her front adult teeth. That is something to be stressed over!

I'm sorry you are sad, but your DH is right. You are overreacting.

My sister had her front (adult) tooth go grey and she had to get it removed and have a false one in.

Baby teeth really don't matter. Baby teeth look cute, but honestly, even her little grey teeth will look a while lot cuter than when her big teeth start to grow in!

My son had an accident in the bath at 2 years. He slipped and banged his bouth on the side of the bath - top tooth turned grey but over time it faded and is now white again, and still in his mouth

My DD lost one of her beautiful top front teeth at 18 months and the other was pushed into the gum (trampoline accident!) I was really upset so I understand how you feel Sad

I grew used to the missing tooth but she tripped and banged the other tooth (that had dropped back down) when she was 3 and it turned grey. I feel that people judge me as a parent and think she doesn't brush her teeth. No idea if they do or not!

Dentist said he's confident its caused no damage to heradult teeth which is the main thing I suppose. I keep looking at her little perfect white teeth and can't bare the thought of seeing it turn grey. I'm probably just being daft but I can't help feeling sad.

My daughters went grey then returned to white again a few weeks later. Recently fell out (a tad prematurely) and adult tooth undneathns perfect.

Make sure you o straight backs dentists gum looks dodgy though.

Both of my babies have knocked their teeth and they have turned grey, at the time I was devastated but now I hardly notice them and feel blessed they didn't fall out or need removing !

P.s. my son lost half an adult tooth in the playground and the repair job is so perfect you would never know. Dentists can do wonders these days but it sounds like adut tooth is absolutely fine anyway, sunda just like my daughters situation.

My DD damaged her front teeth, one has gone grey. I was worried for her but not devastated.

She'll be getting new one's soon, don't worry!

My daughters two front teeth went grey after hitting on the side of the bed , a year down the line they finally went back to white again :-)

It is daft but it is a rite of passage- the first blemish in your perfect little girl. Try to think wider. She will grow up, have other tumbles and scars, quite possibly get a tattoo and piercings, in so many ways move on from the little girl she now is. You'll enjoy it when you get there, as they say. They do grow up and lose their perfect bloom, but it's fine and older, imperfect kids are lovely too.

My niece lost all 4 top front incisors when she was a toddler (fell into a table). She managed perfectly well till her adult teeth came through.

Although she did look like a vampire.

Both my DD's did this. It happens a lot. Not much you can do and no point stressing about it. Once her adult teeth grow in they will look fine again.

Did everyone's dcs adult teeth come through ok after the baby teeth discolored?

Oh, reading your thread just reminded me that exactly the same thing happened with both my children at around the same age but for one the discolouration was temporary and it went back to normal after a few months but for other it was permanent but we got used to it and it wasn't that noticeable and now her adult teeth are through and fine.

I remember being upset at the time too so I know how you feel but it will pass and your dd won't feel any different even if the tooth becomes discoloured. You'll probably start to notice a lot more children with similar issue, it's not that uncommon. Wait and see, might not be as obvious as you think...

Thanks everyone, comforting to know I'm not alone. Poor ds just said why are u bothered mum it's just a tooth.. if it falls out the tooth fairy comes. I suppose I'll just get used to it after a while.

My DS fell on one of his teeth, it turned grey, then kept infecting his gum. He had to have it taken out under GA Sad

It happens more than you think, as this thread shows! When we went to the hospital there was a whole waiting room full of kids getting the same procedure, and the impression I got was that this was a daily occurrence. It only happened a few days ago, you'll feel better in a while.

Has it actually turned grey though. My ds tripped and hit his tooth. It was wobbly and I took him to the dentist who said to keep an eye on it, because he might need to take it out if it turns grey. Apparently it can take up to a month to change colour. Ds was lucky because it stayed white, amazingly.

My DD (3yo) fell off a swing and bashed her front teeth. She now has a discoloured front tooth. It was quite noticeable to start with, but has faded over the past couple of months, and now people only notice it if I point it out (it still bothers me though)!
The dentist said it would not be a problem unless she gets an infection above it, so I have to be vigilant for redness or pain. It will stay put until her adult teeth come through, It has not caused her any issues at all so far.

My daughter had exactly the same at about 3. One of her front teeth were grey. She is 8 now and her adult teeth are in at the front and are fine. Much better it happens to milk teeth.

Thanks everyone for your replies, it's not turned grey yet. Fingers crossed it will be ok but if not I'm glad it's just a baby tooth.

My DD knocked her two front baby teeth as a toddler they turned grey after about two/three weeks, the dentist said that there is a possibility that the adult teeth may have been affected but its unlikely so I just have to wait and see. She has had one spiteful girl in class saying she doesn't brush her teeth but she just told her that she had nerve damage so there
