What is this? It came on today at about 9.30...I came home from school run began to work and got cramps in my right side and also in my upper left sholder area.

It's agony when it comes...it goes and then comes back....the last one was really painful and caused me to yell....wtf?

Call NHS direct. Just to warn.you it sounds like when I had appendicitis. Do you feel sick at all?

kelda · 16/10/2013 10:22

Could you be be pregnant?

Ectopic pregnancies can cause shoulder pain.

Latara · 16/10/2013 10:22

Not sure but if it is really worrying you go to see a GP on an emergency appointment.

Hope u feel better soon.

ICameOnTheJitney · 16/10/2013 10:25

Sounds gall bladdery to me ...try NHS direct

LittleMissWise · 16/10/2013 10:26

You need to see a doctor.

Ectopic pregnancies can cause shoulder pain, like Kelda said, and they can be dangerous. Ring your GP for an emergency appointment now!

Mia4 · 16/10/2013 10:29

If it is then it is op but if it appendicitis or yourvgall bladder or ectopic then they could make you very very ill very quickly. Just call.

If you press and let go does it hurt more when you let go? That's usually a sign of appendix or gall bladder issues

ICameOnTheJitney · 16/10/2013 10:31

No it doesn't hurt more when I press and let go....now it's just a constant dull ache which gets worse from time to time. I will have to see if it goes in the next hour. if it doesn't then i will call. i have to get it gone so i can do my work! I haven';t time tio be ill!

How are you today?

Laurel1979 · 17/10/2013 08:51

Why for the love of God are you asking for urgent medical advice in a forum like this?! Acute abdominal pain could be due to any number of emergency causes including appendicitis, evtopic pregnancy, ruptured cyst, the list is endless. There are less harmful causes, but you need to see a doctor urgently, not ask a group of anonymous people k

Laurel1979 · 17/10/2013 08:53

Sorry posted too early..... Hope everything was ok whatever it was, but please don't rely on the advice of non medically trained people for something like this. I'm a doctor, and increasingly horrified by threads like these!

VoiceofRaisin · 17/10/2013 08:53

I agree. Doctor now. Could be nothing but might be more. Good luck.

Laural whilst I agree with you in principle, at least mumsnet is unlikely to give the 'aww poor u hun, I'm sure it's nothing' response.

As you can see in this thread, several posters have suggested possible serious causes of 'ICameOnTheJitney' and advised her to seek medical help.

ICameOnTheJitney · 17/10/2013 09:48

Thanks all....it went! I lay down and it just went. So it was probably nothing. But thank you all. Flowers

That's good news. I had the feeling from your post that it probably wasn't serious.

If you get the pain again, do go and see your GP. There may be something they can do to help you.

Mamf74 · 17/10/2013 11:04

I second going to see a GP, this could be something like Ovarian Cysts - I got awful pains with mine that almost disappeared as soon as I noticed them IYSWIM, then gradually lasted longer and longer.

Laurel1979 · 17/10/2013 11:51

Where did I "slag anyone off for trying to help?" Yes thankfully others did give very sensible advice ie seek medical help, but I'd hate to think of someone at home with a serious acute abdomen relying on the advice of random posters. Imagine if it had been say appendicitis and it'd ruptured while she was waiting for our replies.....

ICameOnTheJitney · 17/10/2013 12:24

I will keep an eye on them thanks for the headsup about ovarian cysts! I use MN as a sort of test place...like many others...sometimes you just can't judge if a doctor is needed. It's like people who come on asking about their DCs temperatures...they might not be certain and it's drummed into us not to waste doctor's time...MN is a good place for a bit of Motherly advice...most of us are Mums so who better to ask? Smile

kelda · 17/10/2013 12:26

Not only it's sometimes hard to know if a doctor is needed, but sometimes it is very hard to find that actual doctor!
