To think the adjective "amazing" is overused?

Everything is "amazing" according to my Facebook news feed.

Holiday? Amazing.
Meal out? Amazing.
Getting new dog? Amazing.
Having hair cut? Amazing.
New dress? Amazing.
Read a new book? Amazing.

I swear everyone I know is now constantly amazed by everything. It's amazing.

X factor is to blame, they regularly find people's terrible singing "amazing." And the contestants find the whole experience amazing too. Personally Im amazed by how amazing everything is these days.

Not. Everything. Is. Surreal. Dammit.

Zara Phillips acceptance speech when she won Sports Personality Of The Year. She must have used the word about 20 times. I would have thought that somebody with a private school education would be able to come up with a few more adjectives. Maybe she could have thrown in an 'awesome' .

Or totes amazeballs? That appears quite a lot too!

YANBU. Amazing, awsome, to name but a few, are completely over used. Also used out of context IMO.

I find it amazing that you are bothered by this.

Yes, I've been counteracting this trend for years by making sure when anyone asks me what I think of the next best thing that they think is amazing - that I respond 's alright' in a dead pan tone. Knocks em flat.

And it's better than punching their lights out.

My DSIL once described a dog bowl as 'awesome'. It was alright. For a dog bowl.

Yanbu. And what word is left to use if something really IS totally awesome? Any ideas?
