To ask exH to have dd some extra days?

I'm on another thread where the ex is seen as unreasonable for asking the DP to have dsd some extra days. So I wanted to check.

My mum is in hospital. I have to do a 3 hr round trip to visit and I can only really visit in the evening as I work full time

I was going to ask exH to keep dd this Wednesday so I could go and visit and maybe Friday night. It's his weekend but he'd asked me to keep her Saturday and I'd agreed so I was going to ask if he could keep her.

Does that sound fair?

Of course. You are both parents and you both should be able to be flexible if something like this comes up. Cancelling/asking to change arrangements for a night out not so much but to visit your sick mother, then yes of course...in an ideal world of course. Some ex partners would just refuse to be flexible.

To go out on the piss, you'd BU.

To visit a relative in the hospital, you're NBU!

Not unreasonable at all, both adults so should be able to sort this out between you. Just don't do it in a dickish way, he's not under contract to do it.

"Look I really need a favour, my mum is in hospital and I'm struggling to get time to visit. Could you..."

Rather than "oi dick I keep letting you skip your days, how about you man up and be a dad?"

Even if you think the second one is more honest ;)

Oh and don't do it via text/e-mail speak to him..

I don't think it would be unreasonable to go out on pass either

He should want to have her more
