To change my baby's name

TheresAHoleInMyBucket · 02/10/2013 14:45

Baby is nearly 3 weeks. Not registered name yet. Can't get used to name we have chosen - and told everyone. I want to change it to something similar in terms of letters but quite different in feel.

Will everyone think we are ridiculous?

YANBU

Don't worry about what other people think.

Libertymae · 02/10/2013 14:48

Don't worry about what other people will think, definitely change it and as soon as possible!

thehorridestmumintheworld · 02/10/2013 14:50

Yanbu most people will be fine about it and i expect your dc will love to hear about it when they are older. They like stories about their names.

Three weeks is nothing, people will have forgotten her original name in a few months time.

gerhardrichter · 02/10/2013 15:28

I changed my dd's name after a week, but before registering it, so I must have realised it was not right, So glad I did, and no one remembers, especially dd!

DoJo · 02/10/2013 15:36

YANBU - you will feel more ridiculous calling your baby a name you don't like for the rest of their life than you will by changing it now and just telling everyone that's how it's going to be!

zatyaballerina · 02/10/2013 15:40

yanbu, she's going to have this name for the rest of her life so if you're not sure, change it now. Nobody will remember in a few months time.

FreakinRexManningDay · 02/10/2013 15:54

Change it,you will feel much better.

What's the name?

YANBU

Just lie. "What do you mean you thought she was called Rachel? She's always been called Rosie. You clearly didn't listen properly when I told you."
;)

iclaudius · 02/10/2013 16:26

Deffo change it !

mummymeister · 02/10/2013 16:27

if you don't change it it will always get on your nerves and you will probably call her the one you like anyway so just do it. tell people that now you have got to know her she suits this other name better.

frumpypigskin · 02/10/2013 16:28

Someone I know changed her son's name from his first name to his middle name when he was a year old. It took a few months to get used to it but after that it was like he had never been called the first name.

Not a biggy.

BodaciousTatas · 02/10/2013 17:06

I had a completely different (more exotic and interesting) name for the first week of my life. My mum and dad got cards with my name spelt about 4 different ways and nobody pronounced it properly.

It was fine, apart from there being about a gazillion other girls with my name at school.

Retroformica · 02/10/2013 19:49

Do it. She's only a few weeks
