I want to get my Dsis a tablet for her Xmas. I have an ipad and love to but can't stretch to anywhere near that cost! Can anyone recommend anything, as much under £100 as possible. It doesn't need to be fancy she will only use to for Facebook, banking and shopping! TIA

There's a new one from Tesco called hudle, could be worth a look. You can use clubcard points towards accessories, and I think the tablet.

I know a few people who have given their children a Nexus, they've all been pleased.

BeaWheesht · 01/10/2013 23:27

Yes I was about to suggest the tesco Hudl we are getting ds one and doubling up out clubcard vouchers for it. It's £119 .

Nexus 7 is £139 at car phone warehouse at the moment.

Sorry, that's for the Acer 7" tablet which has very good reviews.

The Kindle Fire is only £99, and the Fire HD is £119 right now.

I've used the basic Fire before and I quite like it.

Thanks for the links. I really can't spend more than £100 though. I know that's not a great budget but it's all I can afford :-(

I think the Kindle Fire sounds like your best bet. We bought DS2 a cheap tablet last year from Amazon £65 or so. It is not great at all. My Samsung Galaxy has the same OS and same memory, so on paper they look the same, however the screen on DS2s is not as responsive, and it is altogether slower.

Go for something that is a good brand and then you know it will be okay.

You could get the Tesco Hudl -I think they meant huddle but what do I know?!- for under a hundred if you have any clubcard voucher to double up? . That's my plan for Xmas.

FarmerSueTickle · 02/10/2013 17:09

Kindle Fire ties in to Amazon too much IMHO. The Hudl comes with some Tesco apps, but you can get rid of them easily enough and do what you want with the device.

You can get the Hudl for £60 if you have that amount in Clubcard Vouchers - an excellent deal.

I love my blackberry playbook. Its the best 45 pounds i have ever spent. Took it on holiday recently and sent photos back to mil and dad via email. Think normally costs 80-100 but i got a deal. Writing this on the blackberry as with every single mn post, viewing. Did i say before how much i love it.... On the apps side might be limited but love ice age village and others. Not as good as those with ipads. Did i tell you how much i love my blackberry playbook.....think i might have said that before. Love watching iplayer on it. Only downside is husband keeps taking it and calls it ny ipad thingie. Its a blackberry.....and i love it. X

Absolutely the best deal at the moment is the Nook HD. £79.99. Blackwells have them in stock at the mo. But hurry, they WILL sell out. Android, full access to Google Play store, Chrome browser and a better display than ipad retina.

Bargain of the century. Just ordered 2 for GC.
