There's a Poundworld store near me and under the Poundworld logo it declares "everything £1", like this...
poundworld.net/

Only thing is everything is not £1, multiples of £1, yes but not 1 actual pound.

It really pisses me off because probably the majority of things are nowhere near £1. The first time I went in I put stuff in my trolley thinking it was a pound only to realise they sold stuff like curtains, clothes airers, toys etc that are something like £15.

Surely that's false advertising or am I being thick and missing something?

Also where the hell has "convert links" disappeared to?

Yanbu

If I saw that I would assume that everything was... Erm... £1

MunchMunch · 01/10/2013 19:24

Forgot to say that although it does grate its a lighthearted first world moan Grin

Im fairly sure everything in our poundworld IS a pound. That said I'm more of a poundland kinda girl lol!

Yanbu though!

CrohnicallyLurking · 01/10/2013 19:31

I've never seen anything in a poundworld that wasn't one actual pound. Or sometimes they're 2 for a pound.

Were the prices the manufacturers recommended price, or put on by a previous shop? Places like poundworld often buy up surplus stock from shops that are closing.

MunchMunch · 01/10/2013 19:37

There are shelf edge labels with the prices on so it's not just an MRP. Looking at their website I linked to everything on there is £1 but there is much more instore.

I prefer pound land as well Grin I love spending a few quid in there.

Is Poundworld different from Poundland?
In Poundland everything is £1 or under.

MunchMunch · 01/10/2013 19:40

Yes TheGreyLady we have a few shops of both in My area.

We have both too, and 99p stores, and another shop where everything is 99p, called sams.I think.

AnneTwacky · 01/10/2013 20:11

There's a Poundworld by us and they don't have anything over a pound in it either. Unless it's a new thing increasing their range.

feetlikeahobbit · 01/10/2013 20:18

I think it's called Poundworld plus and yes, they do sell things for way over a quid. They tuck it at the back of the shop.

CrohnicallyLurking · 01/10/2013 20:59

A quick google brought up 'pound world extra' which clearly says 'bargains over £1', I guess you have one of those rather than a regular pound world. So if the store is labelled as an 'extra' then I'm afraid YABU.

MunchMunch · 01/10/2013 21:16

Not labelled as Poundworld Extra and nothing expensive tucked away, everything out and mingled in with the pound stuff. I've wanted to ask the staff many times but thought I was totally missing something and would look a dick in front of everyone but next time I go in I'm going to brave it and ask.
