AIBU to have made lemon drizzle cake?

I am not on the PTA - I was, but I left. I made it for my family because we had too many eggs. It was amazing. Really buttery and delicious - we all agreed it was one of the best cakes I'd ever made. No one wanted to punch it and there was no sloppy, eggy centre. I would make it again.

I am currently on a booze citrus sugar high.

Actually, it wasn't even a true lemon drizzle - I added blackberries from the garden to it. I had to fight off many a spider web to get to them too.

you are being very unreasonable to get my hopes up that this thread might have an update on what is going on with LDC now!

YANBU - as long as there was lots of 'banter' in the kitchen during the making of the cake!

I really fancy making one. I've never had a lemon drizzle cake and that thread made me want one. DH doesn't like them though and I'd just end up eating it all myself!

I bought a slice of LDC at work yesterday. Couldn't stop giggling when I spotted it. The woman at the cake trolley must have thought I was a total moron. Clearly, she's not a MNer.

Recipe:

Weigh 4 eggs in shells then mix together equivalent weights of butter, sugar & SR flour and the eggs in a processor. Mine was 225g of each.
Add 1tsp of baking powder and zest of 1 lemon. Pour out into a rectangle bread tin (buttered or lined). Cook for 35-40 mins at 180C/160C fan, test with skewer and bring out when clean.

Skewer holes all over the cake.

Add 100g sugar to juice of 1.5 lemons, stir well and drizzle over the top while still warm.

Turn out of tine are just eat it with the family in one go, ideally with ice cream, cream or creme fraiche (or a mix of all).

Easy and delish.

By the time I had caught up reading the previous two it had gone. I want to know when the head's email said!

Well if I remember correctly the head's letter to every pupil was about not defaming the school, staff or pupils on anykind of social media or email - it turned out there was some kind of closed fb group that was slagging off staff, parents and even some pupils!

Apparently no one knew exactly who the members of the closed group were but there were some sheepish faces around the school the next day. And someone clearly dobbed them in.

I am in mourning for those threads. I NEED to know whether LDC woman has shown her face yet.

Cam someone update me on this whole lemon drizzle thing please? I remember ages ago marmalade twatkins starting a thread about the pta woman dissing her rice crispy cakes and then making a ldc, but I missed the more recent thread? Are they linked and what is going on?!

It got deleted because some posters felt LDC woman was being bullied on/via the thread, and Marmalade posted a copy of the letter from the school, so there were concerns that people could be identified. In a nutshell.
