I have a terrible cold (in first month of new teaching job so not unexpected) and feel absolutely awful. I have a headache (sinuses?) and sore throat too :(

Currently tucked up in bed feeling sorry for myself.

Also if anyone knows any good remedies please share. I've already tried olbas oil, hot steam, paracetamol and sudafed.

Poor you. I had bad sinuses a couple of days ago. I took a long hard sniff in the horseradish jar, took a couple of paracetmols and felt loads better !! Try to sleep.

Honey, lemon, hot water, sugar (if you like sugar) and a bit of whisky , rum etc . Works a treat .

Sorry but hanging onto all sympathy for myself as I seem to have picked up your cold! And I have to go out tonight to help at DD's school play and then take her to another event leaving at 5:30 tomorrow morning. Am so full of sympathy for myself that I could cry but would love to be tucked up in bed too.....Sad

Another teacher here. Try Sambucol black elderberry syrup. I find it shortens the effects of a cold and taken every day through the Autumn and Winter months really helps. You can buy it in boots. I get my delivered in my Ocado shopping. Hope you're feeling better soon.

This virus is everywhere, and it bites. DH has it, I have it, DD2 has it, DD1 has so far escaped. You can have a bucket of sympathy, a plate of Cake, a lot of Wine, as much Brew as you can handle and anything else you want - we share your pain.

Colds just have to run their course, but getting lots of sleep, eating well and really hitting the vitamin C can help - elderberries are very very rich in vitamin C. Honey, lemon and hot water are fab for a sore throat. I've found Covonia lozenges the best for dealing with horrible coughs - they taste vile and blow your head off, but they work.
