I was really worried about the title, and then I saw the "Who would?".

Me neither

What a mean-spirited thread. He is a human being. I just think, what would I think about a thread like this about a woman?

ohmymimi · 27/09/2013 19:53

Not just me then.

Actually, I thought he was rather nice on C4 news. Not my type in politics, but he's genuinely listening to an electorate.

Horses for courses and all that.

MrsT - OK - Nadine Dorries, would you?

Linda - he's always a gent and frequently v witty and eloquent in the House. But I guess he's just not to my taste 'that way'.

Mrs TP, you are right. I apologise, I always like watching him on programmes as he isn't the run of the mill politician.

BrownSauceSandwich · 27/09/2013 20:47

Not a human being... He's a tory.

Oh, did I say that out loud?

GoldenGytha · 27/09/2013 22:19

Never heard of him,

Who is he?

ohmymimi · 28/09/2013 00:25

Tory MP, big Eurosceptic, demeanor and dress code of a new fogey.

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 29/09/2013 16:34

Well ....... I wasn't entirely alone, there was also a Times gossip columnist there, who I knew when I worked in London. Tbh, I have no recollection of how we accumulated him, but, as it was Party Conference, that sort of thing happens. I think all the events for the night had finished and he wished to continue being sociable, so we ended up in his hotel, and they can serve alcohol beyond opening hours for residents, so there we were! He is eccentric anyway, and I have no idea if/how much he had had to drink, but he was discoursing on the different shaped bits on top of the PCs' helmets (the local force had obviously drafted in support from neighbouring forces and, looked, he was right: the knobbly bit on the top is different for different areas ....!!). My other clear memory is my disgust when my Times friend tipped his Bolly into a plantpot when JRM was away for a moment, sayying it was too dry for him! Horror!

Actually, it must have been at the News International Party I gate-crashed with my Times friend, as JRM is William Rees-Mogg's son (a previous editor), and all that.

I think he's rather sweet. I imagine he's a very good husband/father.
