Went in M&S this morning and saw a top I quite liked but as it was the first shop I went in I decided to have a look around other shops first just to see if they had anything similar. However when I went back just over an hour later the tops had all gone! I asked what had happened and was told by an assistant that they'd taken them off sale and put on 'the container'. Well FURUTB m&s - I'll take my money elsewhere.

I'm sorry but I just don't get this looking around other shops and then going back to the first place.

My dad used to do it and it drove me mad.

If you'd just bought it to start with there wouldn't have been a problem. Or do you expect M and S to consult you before they take something off the shop floor, just in case?

you can ask staff to put aside something you like behind the counter for you for couple hours. most shops will do this. then if you dont come back they return it to shop loor/container/elsewhere

You could have bought it then returned it if you found something better.
Bit of an odd thing for the shop to be doing though. I'd have thought anything on the shop floor at the moment was new season stock and should be available for months.

OP you need to learn the art of 'hiding things you may come back for' somewhere in a corner on a rail where no one browses much

(i know, i know ... it's really annoying when you work in a shop and and at the end of the day have to go round put all this stuff back where it belongs ... been there done that)
