Does your 4 year old toddle? Does your newborn toddle? Well then, YABU.

Newborn ... so do you toddle? Wink

We have parent and baby parking spaces here. If you need to take a pram or a car seat in then you are ok imo:)

My 4 year old used to if that helps, but I was so worried they may melt in the sun if I parked further away ai still bu

YANBU - they are not just for toddlers!

You definitely need it with a new born - no question.

Part of the reason for a parent and child space is the extra space on each side so that you can get the children out easily - you need this most of all with a new born.

Also so that you can put the trolley back in the trolley space without having to abandon kids in the car for ages.

I think you are justified parking there with just a 4 year old tbh - there must be a cut off but it's probably a bit older than 4.

People who have no children and park in those spaces are being very unreasonable!!!

YANBU. You need the extra wide space to get the baby seat in & out of the car, toddle or no toddle Wink

The problem is absentminded they specifically said parent and toddler, I don't want anyone chasing me around the supermarket checking the toddling abilities of my newborn Grin

in all seriousness - and following my earlier light-hearted post ...

I remember being post EMCS, bleeding lots (TMI!) whilst 'toddling' down the car park with my baby in a carseat whilst a Mum with four grown up (18+) boys laughed their way down the car park about parking in a parent and baby space

That day and in my then mental state I would have gladly keyed her car had I the energy

If anyone criticised you for parking there with a newborn they should be shot (I don't mean that literally!).

They probably have changed it to toddler because I imagine people have pushed their luck re: definition of "child", e.g. parking there with a 17 year old...

I would be quite interested in how old people thing is too old - school age for instance? It is a bit of a pain to trek across the carpark with a 4 or 5 year old but I guess there are others whose need is greater?

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 27/09/2013 14:25

Could be right Winter I think no matter what they call it someone will park there when they shouldn't, or take it to the extreme and park with much older children. Tbh I don't really care where they are or who uses them unless they take the last space I was after Wink I just love how heated a thread about them gets.

I will add now that I also have a blue badge Grin
