Hi. I feel really low and I am trying to find solution but I can't find it. If someone can advice me It would be highly appreciated.
I will make it very short. I am not from here neither my dh. We are from different countries. He is here around 20 yrs and me 15. I would like to baptised my 2 DD's and yesterday priest told me when giving me forms it will be before Christmas. I was in shock how quickly it will be. My DD's are 10 and 9 and they want to be baptised. They are attending rc school and we go regularly to church.
Just found out that godmother cant come at such a short notice from my country and I am devastated!
I don't have anyone else ... And my heart is breaking. My good friends are not Catholics and can't ask them...
What I can do? Please anyone?! Please.they need to be baptised now so they can receive holly communion in may. Please advice me... Thank you

What Euphe said. You could wait a little longer maybe?

If it's to help with Secondary school applications; you're about 9/10 years too late...
You can have someone act as proxy for the intended godmother if you're going ahead on the planned date.

DontPanicMrMannering · 26/09/2013 20:43

Don't do it then he probably means it CAN be before Christmas not HAS to be.

Ask him for another time when the godmother can get here.

Sallyingforth · 26/09/2013 20:45

Have you discussed this with your priest? I'm sure he will be able to help.

molly There are other reasons for being baptised besides getting into a school. Some people actually want to be.

StanleyLambchop · 26/09/2013 20:50

I am sure that they can still do their Holy Communion in May. It is still a long way off. Surely as long as they are baptised by May then it won't matter , if you speak to your priest and explain I am sure he will understand. Otherwise you can have a stand-in Godparent, I did (did not meet my real Godfather until I was 17!)

eatmydust · 26/09/2013 21:04

Explain to your priest - he will understand. There should still be plenty time for the baptism before First Communion in May - maybe the priest just mentioned December as that is the next time he plans to do a baptism mass?

The priest might also be OK in the circumstances with not all Godparents being Catholic. They don't seem to insist on it these days if you have at least one Catholic godparent.

eatmydust · 26/09/2013 21:06

PS You are not being unreasonable. Can understand if the rest of your DDs class are going to do First Communion that you don't want them to be excluded or wait until next year.

You have good friends who are not Catholics? Are they Christians? If so, ask your priest if they can be Godparents.
