I was just picking my dd up from gymnastics and one of the other mums was there who lives in my street.. We were chatting to a 3rd mum (I swear I'm getting to the point lol) who was saying that with her job she is massively behind on housework.. The conversation went something like:

Mum1: it's a never ending job
Me: don't worry about it, do what you can and the rest will catch up eventually.. Plus that's what sofas are for.. For hiding stuff under ;)
Mum2: oh I knew you were like that as you always have washing hanging up in your sitting room..
Me: dies of shame um it's ironing, it gets hung up there so dh can take it to work without blah blah
Mum2: oh does it change then?

I muttered some excuse about how I iron on a Sunday and then dh takes the clothes on a Tuesday to his job (works away)..

It wasn't till I got home that I suddenly thought that unless she stares in my house every time she walks past how the hell does she know?' Hmm

I obviously need to start shutting my curtains.. And I put the ironing in the back room!

Don't take any notice, stupid b@$*s....

MaidOfStars · 24/09/2013 20:59

Sounds a bit rude to me. 'I knew you were like that (a filthy slattern)'.

Nicknameinvalid · 24/09/2013 21:00

And here was me quite impressed that I had actually ironed stuff Grin

OP posts:
Minty82 · 24/09/2013 21:00

Unbelievably rude!!

Minty82 · 24/09/2013 21:01

And yes, you're right to be impressed - I can't remember the last time I ironed anything...

pianodoodle · 24/09/2013 21:03

I hang DH's work clothes up so I don't have to iron them so you do more than me Grin

Cheeky mare!

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 24/09/2013 21:06

Oh how bloody rude of her. She can piss off.

I always have laundry drying on racks in my conservatory unless I have Invited People Over for a Candlelit Supper or similar which never bloody happens.

Thepowerof3 · 24/09/2013 21:08

She needs to get a life

nevergoogle · 24/09/2013 21:10

i'd get some t-shirts printed with messages on them like 'fuck off nosey' and 'is your tv broken' or 'and what are you going to do about it?' and hang them up in the front room for a good week.

Yamyoid · 24/09/2013 21:14

Love nevergoogle's idea.
Yanbu.

canyou · 24/09/2013 21:17

You ironShock I sent DP away on sun to a training camp he rang on Monday night to say his battle vest had not been ironed Confused we are together 11 yr you would think he knows I do not iron also never knew a battle vest could come apart to be washed but did not tell him thatBlush Wink
Oh and cupboards hold much more junk then the sofa but remember to put a child lock on them so no one opens them when you have guests

elcranko · 24/09/2013 21:28

YANBU, how rude!

elcranko · 24/09/2013 21:28

Ps I NEVER iron Smile

BiBiBroccoli · 24/09/2013 21:30

nevergoogle's idea is fab - do it!

jinglejungle · 24/09/2013 21:33

I bet you don't clean behind your fridge either.

onlyfortonight · 24/09/2013 21:35

And there was me thinking that radiators and the dining room table were the places everyone stored their laundry Grin.

Who actually peeps inside someone's window and makes a mental note about their washing. WTAF!

Go with Nevergoogle's idea...

Iamsparklyknickers · 24/09/2013 21:43

Fancy using a house to live in and utilise it to facilitate your life - you big bloody weirdo.

If you don't do the t-shirt I reckon you should get a proper s&m basque to hang up for freaky window-peaker. In fact you should have laughed and passive aggressively reminded her peeping-toms went out of fashion in the 70's.

Iamsparklyknickers · 24/09/2013 21:46

onlyfortonight I'll admit I love a good nose through an unprotected window, but I know it's socially unacceptable enough to not bring it up in conversation!

This is the perfect time for it actually, everyone seems to put their lights on without shutting their curtains this time of year so I get loads of noses through windows from the top deck of my bus! Grin

SeaSickSal · 24/09/2013 21:49

Tell her it's not ironing, it's post modern art installation on the oppression of women. Probably by Tracey Emin. And cost £££.

Yamyoid · 24/09/2013 22:24

Grin seasicksal

Of course dining rooms/living rooms/radiators are where washing live. My basket and table and chair of ironing is permanently full of clothes.
The wardrobes have no space anyway.

BlackeyedSusan · 24/09/2013 22:37

ach well, I am a creased filthy slattern then. i do not iron.

FitzgeraldProtagonist · 24/09/2013 22:46

How rude. Washing in my front room ATM also awaiting ironing, just started doing it. Justifying my temp SAHM status.

sonlypuppyfat · 24/09/2013 22:50

Shes one less person you have to talk to now!

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 24/09/2013 22:56

It wasn't till I got home that I suddenly thought that unless she stares in my house every time she walks past how the hell does she know?'

This week hang up an old sheet with 'hello, nosey' painted on it.

Iron it first though.

Wink
mumofweeboys · 24/09/2013 22:56

She have a field day at my house as I launch all the washing onto the diningroom sofa (at front of house). Its one gigantic heaped pile. Im legendary for not ironing. One of mums at toddler group nearly fell over when I confessed to not owning an ironing board.
