to not serve dinner tonight?

I am so so so bored of thinking what to cook, I just have no idea what to do tonight. Nothing special, just me and DH. His useless suggestion was lasagne - I'm low carbing at the moment so that clearly won't work.

I give up, tonight there shall be nothing for dinner!

Last night I cooked tagliata - loosely based on this recipe with rocket and parmesan salad. No carbs, and you can just do some crusty bread or garlic bread for your husband.

LJL69 · 21/09/2013 12:30

I like the BBC Good Food website...they have a recipe of the day. On weekends my DH and I try to make something from it as we were getting bored with the usual variations on bolognese etc x

ohmymimi · 21/09/2013 12:40

Gino only-a-bit-campo did pollo alla pizzaiola yesterday, my mamma-in-law's quickie standby. Just breaded chicken on garlicky tom sauce with some moz on the top. Serve with crusty bread. Even quicker if you do it with steak. Green salad with oil/lemon dressing as side??????

TheArmadillo · 21/09/2013 12:42

Lol I feel your pain. Sometimes I am just completely lacking in inspiration combined with can't be bothered.

I am liking the look of that tagliata though, especially combined with the suggested roasted onions.

hazchem · 21/09/2013 12:55

Low carb.
We had sausages and salad here tonight.
Last night was chicken thighs, browned off then cooked in stock in the oven with feta and olives.

Or how about a cheese board and a glass of read. Send your other half out for cheese and pate and a nice bottle of red.

SPBisResisting · 21/09/2013 12:59

I have been feeling like this recently. Pasta seems to be the default option. Just sick of trying to think of what to cook

PeppiNephrine · 21/09/2013 13:01

There are 2 adults...why can't he cook?

mrspremise · 21/09/2013 13:04

Roast Chicken is always my saviour when I have months or weeks days like this. Goes with salady bits or roast veg, with bread or potatoes for the carbivores. As a bonus, baked potatoes will cook in the oven at the same time so even less work Wink

hazchem · 21/09/2013 13:07

*red a glass of red. Yes I'm on my second but it's night time here :)

ClaraOswald · 21/09/2013 13:15

We are having lasagne here, so not much help as a suggestion.

littlewhitebag · 21/09/2013 13:28

I also get weary of deciding what to cook, shopping for the food and cooking it. I am so sick of going to the supermarket.

We are having haggis tonight with mashed potato and turnip. I have bought ready prepared mash and turnip so everything can be microwaved. Easy tea.

FlapJackFlossie · 21/09/2013 13:34

Since I joined Slimming World I have not that that trouble OP. I go through the recipes, work out what's what for a week, then go shopping.

It's really lovely not having to think what to cook any more !

Travelledtheworld · 21/09/2013 13:42

I am painting the kitchen today so we will be getting a supermarket curry to shove in the microwave.

dopeysheep · 21/09/2013 13:46

Boiled egg and a cheese board?

MrsHoratioNelson · 21/09/2013 13:51

Lasagne layered with aubergine yuck instead of pasta? I hate aubergine but you might like it Grin

Mintyy · 21/09/2013 13:59

Get dh to cook tonight.

CaptainSweatPants · 21/09/2013 14:02

Why can't he cook???

DaleyBump · 21/09/2013 14:05

If your DH is anything like mine you'll be begging him not to cook Grin

WorraLiberty · 21/09/2013 14:34

Perhaps it's the OP's turn to cook?

oversomeniagara · 21/09/2013 14:41

If you like red meat then STEAK! Do it with sautéed mushrooms + cheesy cauliflower mash. It is low carb + very tasty. Carbs can be easily added for others too and you won't feel like you are missing out.

oversomeniagara · 21/09/2013 14:48

Or... Make your own kebabs, marinate & skewer chicken / lamb/ halloumi / veg+ grill them and serve with salad, garlicky yoghurt & chilli sauce. Others can have pitta or couscous if they want the carbs :)

Essexgirlupnorth · 21/09/2013 14:51

The Hairy bikers do a diet lasagna in the hairy dieters book with strips is leek instead of pasta so low carb. Is actually really nice.
We are having moussaka that I made earlier from the new hairy bikers eat for life book which have had less than a week and already make 3 things from.

frogspoon · 21/09/2013 17:27

How about moussaka?

It's similar to lasagne but is made with aubergine instead of pasta (I know a few other posters have suggester similar.

Or shepherds/ cottage pie, but using a lower carb alternative to potato
e.g. mashed cauliflower or celeriac
