Why is there someone digging up old threads and having them deleted?

think I must have imagined it ... opened up three or four threads that were years old (for a nosey) and the last message was removed because of talk guidelines ....

There was a spammer posting links on anything with "gift" in the title. A rather badly translated spammer

all posted by clarasebal .. thought I was going mad then!

I saw one earlier this evening - one where the OP was upset about a Mother's Day present - and the last post included a link to a gift buying website. I assume it's that.
