To think that it would be nice to have an "edit" button available to correct posts??

We all make mistakes/typos. Autocorrect can also be a pain. Wouldn't it be nice to have an "edit" facility available? Then, if you spot a glaring/embarrassing error in your post after you have submitted it, you could hop back in and correct it rather than posting again?

Just an idea. Reasonable or unreasonable??

This gets done to death! I'll let someone else come and explain it well, but really if you could go back and change what you typed thread wouldnt make sense ans they flow along with new responses.

Reasonable in one way but it would allow people to totally alter what they originally said and thus deny all.

Maybe it they had an edit facility that only worked for a short while?

Another forum i use has a 30 second edit facility . After that, its too late. Useful when you spot a glaring error just after posting.

I use a couple of other forums where the edit facility is available. I get the point about people trying to change what they have said in order two wriggle out of trouble later on, but in general there are no problems, and I think there would even be uproar over there if it was taken away.

I am a perfectionist I guess, and I get rather irritated with myself when I have made daft mistakes or typos.

I think a one minute window to correct mistakes would be useful, especially in cases when the whole meaning of what's being said is altered by the mistake, e.g would/wouldn't!

Tee2072 · 18/09/2013 10:22

Would only work if it was timed.

It can lead to 'ninja' editting. Not so much here where you can't quote from posts like some places.

A: "I like bunnies"

B: "Yes! I totes agree" with you A!"

A: edits post to: "Hitler was a great leader and inspiration to us all!"
Quotes B so they can't edit themselves: "Yes! I totes agree" with you A!"
