YANBU but wouldn't it be easier to call your local police station and tell them instead? clearly not 999 but if its been going off for that long it would piss me right off

SisterMatic · 15/09/2013 23:55

Call 101 and report it. Must be so annoying!

notanyanymore · 15/09/2013 23:59

I doubt the police will do much to be honest, unless you strike lucky and there happens to be a bored officer nearby.
Start screaming in the street manically, then they might turn up. Scream manically whilst dancing round the car whilst naked you'll get a whole squad show up! Grin

Oh it's a nightmare. Dh's car has an alarm that goes off at nothing, and he hates the bastard thing with a passion.
Yanbu.

Hegsy · 16/09/2013 00:04

notany Grin I've phoned but she didn't think they'd be able to do much but they are putting a call out. I'm just worried I'm turning into 'that person' always calling the police. I had to phone a couple of months ago as my neighbour was fighting with a taxi driver, then my number plates were stolen and in my last flat we had loads of problems with upstairs neighbour due to parties and continual excessive noise.

DH is also invading my space. I may need to push him out the bed......or I'm just a grumpy cow cause I can't get to sleep!

I'd try reporting on 101 as well. They used to have the right to break into cars to stop this at one time, probably don't anymore though as they seem not to come out for anything nowadays.

Really maddening, especially when nobody responds to it. Had a neighbour once who went away on holiday for two weeks during a particularly hot summer and every day when the sun hit her car at a particular angle the bloody alarm would start up and continue on and off for several hours.

Like the mad naked screaming idea though.

pigsDOfly · 16/09/2013 00:10

Sorry see you've already reported it. Type too slowly.

HooverFairy · 16/09/2013 00:16

I'd be furious, you did the right thing dialling 101.

Pictish I bet your DH is popular with your neighbours, why doesn't he just deactivate the alarm? Obviously it would be helpful if the car was actually being broken into but I bet it's caused annoyance more times than that's happened.

We have neighbours who go away for weeks at a time, their car alarm goes off without fail every night they are away. Our other neighbours have reported them for excess noise, I'm not sure how that one will turn out but it is very annoying.

OMG! 30 Minutes after phoning police.....silence! Awww its bliss.....probably just a coincidence its went off now but thank goodness! Sleep now....thanks Smile

Hoover - he can't. It's a company car so not allowed. The model gets changed every few months, so hopefully the next one will not be so sensitive.
It never goes on for long as he can switch it off through the window, and so far has never happened at night.
Will be glad to see the back of it when it goes.
