To think 'In the Night Garden' is scary and nightmarish

Not sure if this has been done before (I would be surprised if it hasn't) but surely I'm not the only one who finds In the Night Garden creepy. Ever since I first watched it with my niece I've thought the main characters could have come right out of a horror film.

Upsy Daisy morphs in my mind in to a serpent-haired Medusa. Or just picture her a little disheveled with rips in her dress her plaits unraveling and she could easily be a zombie.

Iggle Piggle freaks me out most of all. I dont like that his head is at an angle. Reminds me of Frankenstein.

As for Makka Pakka. One word...demon Shock

Oh yeah don't forget the Haa Hoos. Imagine them floating towards you anytime of the day or night. Creepy.

The Birds. I forget what they're called on ITNG but they're scary.

I read a fab article the other day that explained how ITNG is actually about some lesser known works of Chaucer.

Grin

All I know is DS2 LOVES it with a fiery passion.

It's a literal depiction of hell. All the residents of the garden are being punished for past sins. Upsy Daisy wants to sleep so bad she has to bring her bed everywhere but is never allowed in it, Makka Pakka washes rocks over and over and the Tomblee Boos are clumsy soft-headed babies that live in a Bosch-style patch of puncture-inducing thorns and steep drops. Iggle Piggle is only allowed 20 minutes with them before he's cast out on the ocean again with only a light and a blanket.

The birds are tittifers, which always amuses my infantile side rather than scare me.

It's shit, I know that.

My DS hated it. He was absolutely terrified of the episode where Mr Pontypine's moustache flew away. Whenever he saw even the briefest sight of the programme after that he'd scream in terror, so YANBU.

He had the same reaction with Teletubbies too. Sensible boy!
