Planning a registry office wedding (Bristol, in case anyone wants to offer any nuggets of wisdom! )

Going to go for a meal after...hoping to marry at 4pm..There will be lots of kids to consider.

Im thinking im gonna book it for dec. Sooner the better and all that. .no fuss.

So. If you were getting married in December, what day would pick?

NYE isn't suitable.

Christmas Eve!!

Sort of a nothing day for most people, but as its my DH's birthday it's brilliant for us.

diddl · 13/09/2013 16:31

Do you want it near Christmas/on a Sat?

OnePlanOnHouzz · 13/09/2013 16:32

I got married on Christmas Eve ! Magical day as we gave out presents to all the children when we can out of the registers office after signing our paperwork ! Every year we do the same !

Shutupanddrive · 13/09/2013 16:32

7th December, not too close to Xmas

diddl · 13/09/2013 16:33

I'd go for 7th if you want a Sat not near Christmas.

Earlier in December is better I think. We went to a wedding last year on the 21st and it was a total ball ache. And I love weddings so for me to say that is something!

7th December is as good a date as any. Later than that would be too close to Christmas, imo!

quoteunquote · 13/09/2013 18:27

The winter solstice is the 21st,

So every day from there on in, live will be brighter.

I would defiantly go for the solstice, easy to mark each year, and then you have an extra reason to celebrate the summer solstice.

EllesAngel · 13/09/2013 19:16

Do Registry Offices open on Sundays?

I'd go for the first Saturday if possible. The solstice is appealing but it may be easier for your guests earlier in December.

We went to a wedding on Christmas Eve once, when we were first together.

It was lovely, but I'd hate to do it when we had children to consider.

What about between Christmas and New Year, if the majority of people you want to invite are off for the week?

PorkPieandPickle · 13/09/2013 19:39

We got married on December 23rd last year, we loved it!!
Christmas eve/day was great as extended family had all travelled to the area for our wedding. We then went on honeymoon Boxing Day and spend new year away. It was a lovely time of year to do it, but needs a good planner :)
