This is the last straw. I will try not to write an epic post about my first world problem.

We have been using the same company for 18 months. At first it was great. After about a year they changed the cleaner and didn't bother to tell me. I was greeted by a stranger during the Easter hols. I complained, and they apologised.

Since had new kitchen with wooden work tops. Asked company not to clean (on phone) until we had finished oiling then. Then gave instructions to actual cleaner re no water left on wood, and special cleaning product etc.

Last week, came home to big puddles around the sink. Emailed the company, to say this was not on. Turns out they have changed the cleaner again without saying anything. Have since had a string of snotty emails about no specific instructions, and the fact that our work tops aren't fit for purpose. No apology.

Finally, they didn't come today. I was not informed of this.

AIBU or are they unprofessional?!

They ABU to not notify you of new cleaner, or notify cleaner of any special directions.

But really, though, if you've s specific need that isn't overly obvious to a cleaner, wash your own bloody worktops Wink

Do you have a contract? Presumably you should be aware of who has/doesn't have keys to your property!

Do you have copies of the emails you sent stating quite clearly that they weren't to touch the new work surfaces?

I'd take photos of any damage and send them a bill. And get a new cleaner. Can't stand shoddy service!

I would get rid. They should pass on relevant information to a new cleaner.

I don't think YABU, but I would probably have left a prominently placed not regarding the worktops or cancelled the cleaning until the oiling was done. (But I am a deeply paranoid person when it comes to anyone coming into my house to do work).

get rid but also get them to notify their insurers about the claim for your worktop. then hire an individual directly. Agencies are arseholes.

YANBU. They should notify you when there is a stranger in your house, and they should ensure that their employees know any specific instructions.

No it wasn't maids2clean. I didn't go with them ad the franchisee was super creepy.

They should tell you about changes where reasonably possible. They should also pass on client requests. I would be annoyed that I wasn't getting the service I'd requested and paid for so you ANBU.

No contract, but initial email says that it will be same names cleaner, and if they are unavailse we will be informed and choose whether to have replacement or week off.

When we had a new kitchen they said the number 1 killer of kitchen surfaces is agency cleaners. Best to tell them to leave your worktops alone completely.

YANBU. My boss had poncy stainless steel tops fitted (yes, I judged him and thought it was a waste of money, but hey ho). He gave clear instructions to the cleaning company, who again, kept changing cleaners, not to use those steel wire pads, but they did and knackered his kitchen. He ended up having to threaten small claims court before they coughed up.

I was a bit unsympathetic due to first world problems etc, but contractually, was on his side. it took 18 months to sort out though. I was well bore of hearing about it by the end!
