Panda's used to be carnivores that changed to eating bamboo (that's why they have to eat all the time as their digestive tracks have not evolved yet).
I think they are bidding their time, lulling us into a false sense of security. "look at us all cute and endangered. Take us in we're all lovely and cuddly and vegetarian".
IMO tis only a matter of time till they turn on us and feast on human flesh. Never mind zombies, we need a panda escape plan too!

DH thinks we should let the pandas die. We have wasted millions on trying to save these cuddly animals with apparently no desire to live, when in that time thousands of other species of less cute animals who were probably easier to save have gone extinct.

I think vj's husband may have a point. As nice as they are to watch if the lazy furry fuckers can't be arsed to breed then they deserve to go extinct.

I was quite stunned when I read about how bizarre their pregnancies were. I've never heard of any other animal where science cannot detect if they are genuinely pregnant until the head is crowning. And never mind the effort required to actually get pregnant.

How on earth are they still around?! As cute as they are.. they are such an anomaly.

also, having been on the cabbage soup diet, I can imagine how angry they are getting. And what a relief it will be when they let loose with their meat eating urges (like me with a couple of tubs of Ben and jerry's after said cabbage soup diet)
