I want to go, however I am only part-time so work until 2pm.

The night out starts at 7.

I live around 24 miles away from work. So I don't want to drive home and drive back, or wait around for 5 hours.

I asked my manager if it was possible to work a later shift. When she said was - I'll see what I can do, but if I can't then you're not coming?

Explained the situation and she was just

Is it an 'official' night out or a 'let's go have fun' night out? If the former then yanbu and asking your boss to change shift was sensible. If the latter then yabu. Go or don't go, but don't make it your boss' s problem.

Is there a pressing need for you to go?

It's just that you haven't said what the dilemma is, and I'm wondering why you haven't gone with the easiest answer of 'don't go'.

Will they be shitty with you if you don't? Or you'd feel a bit excluded?

Is it possible for you to work through until later in the day and then claim the time back in lieu?
