re. Currys interview technique for their shop candidates.

It sounds a lot more fun than any any interview I've ever been on, and would have given me an edge.

AIBU?

Ooops, just seen another Currys thread, that casts them in a rather more negative light Hmm!

I think it was demeaning. How could dancing show a retailer the potential a prospective employee has?
I think it was done deliberately to humiliate . They were bastards to do this.

Salmotrutta · 06/09/2013 16:54

They make interviewees dance??

Hmm

How mortifying!

And stupid.

justmyview · 06/09/2013 16:57

Did the interviewers join in?

foslady · 06/09/2013 17:03

I'm with Calinsalach on this one. Nothing nice about being humiliated. especially when it's to people who are trying to do their best in difficult times

Delayingtactic · 06/09/2013 17:09

God no. I would walk out. It's demeaning and humiliating.

TrueStory · 06/09/2013 17:13

Honestly, I've seen worse at interviews. Whats your best/worst features? What are your views on "diversity"? What is great about our company?

A nice dance would have been light relief, by comparison.

But obviously I am wrong Grin.

They make you dance? Shock I only worked there for two years (and moved onto a chocolate shop, much more fun and we got to ear leftover tasters!) and never had that. Changed so much.

MammaTJ · 06/09/2013 17:14

I would have no chance! I'll stick to nursing!

farrowandbawl · 06/09/2013 17:41

I would have argued that dancing has nothing to do with the job advertised, thanked them for their time, walked out, gone home and made a complaint to head office.

I don't fucking dance in my own time, even when drunk, there's no way I'd have done it for a job interview.
