boring, I know -

We have recently moved house, and also in the past few weeks, it's been my DD1's birthday. She has had 3 parcels sent for her from relatives which have been too big for the letterbox. The postman has left them with neighbour, who is very elderly and frail and have left no card any of the times.

We both work and are out of the house from 8am until 4pm.

She brought round the first two, and her DIL has just brought round a third (1st was 12 days ago, second last Tuesday) and said it's been sitting as neighbour couldn't bring it round due to poor health. She was fine, but did enquire as to why I hadn't gone round. I explained re: not getting notification (this was a second gift from a relative who had sent money, so was not expecting it).

I wanted to put a sign on the door stating could parcels go back to sorting office and I could collect next day (I work three doors down from local sorting office).

So AIBU to do this? Would Postman hate me Confused?

TYIA

You are perfectly entitled to do this don't worry.

Have a look at this Royal Mail info re. them delivering parcels to neighbours www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/delivery-to-neighbour

It's obviously not unreasonable for you to want your parcels to go to the sorting office, as the Royal Mail let you request stickers asking for just this to happen.

There's some sort of way you can register with Royal Mail not to leave parcels with neighbours. They send you a sticker for your letter box. We did this as we were embarrassed how often we were troubling the neighbours with our parcels.
