to think if you order a uniform it should arrive before school starts!!!!

I ordered school uniforms at the beginning of august as the supplier came into the school. asked how long it will take told about 4/5 days. OK not great as I stupidly thought they might bring the uniform with them to buy but OK. now 4 weeks later it still hasn't arrived. I've emailed several times and tried phoning several times a day all last week no answer. this morning I got an email stating that not everything is ready but will be at school tomorrow when they start
my DDs will need to go back in their summer uniform which isn't the end if the world but as dd1 is moving up to Y3 prep class she wanted to wear her new shirt and tie.
so Aibu to think it should have arrived before school actually starts??

Do you not have a second hand sale to buy spare to keep you going ? Can she change on arrival tomorrow or wear summer tomorrow and collect then?

sounds pretty much like our Trutex to me - have NEVER had great dealing on school uniform - I insist on picking up from the shop now - and 2 years in a row they have "lost" something... but of course they have us over a barrel as they are the only shop that supplies some of the stuff!!!

We go elsewhere and on-line for all the other stuff now.... just use them for what we ABSOLUTELY have to

I'm in the same situation, I ordered most of Ds' uniform from Trutext & I've had none of it & can't for the life of me get hold of them so I have had to rush out & buy more stuff as it doesn't look like im getting what I ordered/paid for

If they said delivery in 4 days, and then it takes 4 weeks and you have to collect, then YANBU. That is appalling service.

And it would be appalling for any company which delivers (I don't see it as worse because it's goods fr a DC).

That's bloody poor service. I ordered DS's uniform after the deadline for guaranteed delivery, was told it would take five days and it arrived in two. No idea why all uniform companies can't do the same.

That sounds super irritating. If they are the only place you can get school uniform, perhaps it is worth writing to the governors to complain. Get a few people to do so - the school needs to pick suppliers who can cope with demand.

I've had issues with sports kit from Trutex, they are spectacularly crap! It is even more frustrating that they are the only people we can buy from and that you can only contact them via email or text.

Having school uniform supplied before school actually starts really shouldn't be that much to ask of a school uniform supplier.

Of course YANBU. A school uniform outfitter that cannot deliver the uniform people have already paid them for, before the start of term, having been given plenty of lead time, does not deserve to still be in business.

I mean, did they not realise that the schools go back in September or something?

A bit like ordering a Christmas tree from Acme Christmas Trees and them saying they'll "bring it round on December 27th, OK love? "

I ordered ds's logoed jumpers and shirts in July as I had spoken to parents whose children started at Ds's junior school last year and people had not got it in time. It arrived last week, they should have a clear deadline so you know when to order.

it is appalling service I know. its the only supplier of the uniform and EVERYTHING has the bloody logo on it. the only thing that doesn't are the tights/socks and shoes. I'm not buying new uniforms for the sake of it. Y3 uniform is different and foundation 2 uniform is a proper uniform no more jogging bottoms now a pinafore. its just frustrating and there is not second hand shop/sale.

Complain to the school if they choose to use a supplier who does not fulfil the service needs THEY need to change supplier (or at the very least put pressure on them to sort their shit out!

Totally think you need to make it the school / governors' problem. They have imposed this logos on everything rule and now you are having to scramble to get the stuff from the supplier they chose.

Apart from anything else, this is probably causing some of the children some anxiety - not having the right uniform before school starts would have upset me when I was a kid.

I am also Grrrr! about uniform today - just back from hols on Sat, 2 x girls uniforms had finally been delivered on that day (lobbed over fence with a card through the door to tell me! that's another story - i had been chasing the order up and had told the supplier we were going to be away for 10 days, and the parcel should be left with neighbours, had we not been back as soon as we were, there is the chance of the parcel having been damaged or going missing!)

Brand new uniform for this year,bespoke for the school, both kids tried on at the sessions in July, but now neither of them can fit into the skirts even though I ordered a size with plenty of room, Can't get through to supplier on phone, no stock in school to sell/exchange - very pissed off!!!!!

I thought online ordering was the easy option, now I have a 40 mile round trip to go get one IF the shop has one in stock! the school website indicates some sort of issue as it now has a message saying if you cannot obtain skirt in time please wear a plain grey one.

Its just not good enough, is it!

Our school uses this supplier because apparently they provide sports equipment if the school uses them.

I can't blame the school for doing everything they can to improve the equipment they have, but tbh I'd rather make a contribution towards school funds than have to deal with incompetent suppliers. Others might not feel the same though.

Of course we know its a first world problem, its just a very real problem for many of us, can't get through on the phone either, completely thrown plans for today out the window to devote to trying to sort this crap out! And yes, my new Y7 starter IS very anxious about standing out and looking odd if she has to go in the wrong uniform, when the school have made such a song and dance about it having to be 100% compliance etc etc. It will spoil her "first day photo"!

It's even more galling having paid £££££££ for it weeks ago - they took the money quick enough, no mention then of it all having to still be made (yes, by trutex) and not ready till late August.

Perhaps the problem is that when the school negotiates with the supplier in say January for the following September, no one remembers what a pain in the arse it was getting uniform in August / September. It may be that the supplier never sorts this out because they never get a kicking for it.

Has anybody had any luck getting a response from Trutex as I have tried emailing/txting & they keep getting bounced back

I got an email response from Trutex six working days after I emailed them through the contact page on the website.

Our school has recently changed suppliers, -not Trutex but a well known high st store to supply the bespoke Logo items, having ordered in plenty of time, middle august with website saying ten days we are now being told some items not available until mid September.
Why would they offer a service they cannot fulfill before term begins???
School uniform is simply seen as a money making exercise as there is often only one supplier for each school so no parental choice.

Sounds very annoying.

Of course it's a first world problem Leverette, but so is not being able to afford a new uniform. It's all relative isn't it.

an update - school has just phoned and said that the uniform is at school today but they are only open until 1pm but have other 1st world problem today I have ocado delivery between 12-1.
oh well summer uniform it is.

I cut the logo from old garments and sew it on to the new (non supplier) pieces I need.

Does your school parents assoc not organise a second hand sale. That might be something to start, if not.

I know it's a first world problem, who ever posted that, but it does affect a lot of people here, in the so called first world.
Everyone wants the best for their children - getting what you pay for, appearing in appropriate attire which indicates you belong to a group is a universal concern.

I feel it is a bit off hand to dismiss the ops concerns as a 'first world problem': I'm sure parents in other countries have the same feelings about getting value for their hard won money, and their children's acceptance into a group.

Just wondering what would happen if every parent with a late delivery asked this particular company for a discount as the goods weren't delivered when promised? After all, most other large retailers do this. Might make them think...
