Dogs left in car on a hot day

Am I being unreasonable to be angry at someone leaving 2 dogs in a hot car park today? The said person was a VET !!
I want to report it, but to whom?
Tried RSPCA, no answer. Was thinking of calling the vet practise...?

Confused Are you expecting anyone to disagree with you?
wonderingsoul · 29/08/2013 15:18

break the window.. and phone the police...

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 29/08/2013 15:20

Phone the police on 101 THEN break the window, otherwise you could get in trouble for criminal damage.

MissTaken62 · 29/08/2013 15:25

She came out of supermarket and drove off, after me and another person told her what we thought...
Just want to know who to report her to? If I should report her?
Thing is, I don't doubt she loves her dogs...and said was only gone 5 mins (was more than 15, cos I was standing, watching the dogs just in case they got sick) But even so, she should know better...

Think it depends how long they were left for. I think leaving dogs in a car for a short period, with the window down and water available, whilst an owner quickly pops into a shop or to pay for petrol or similar would be fine and they're not likely to come into much harm.

More than 15 minutes or so and I would start to get worried for the dogs. If they were left longer than this I'd definitely keep trying to contact the RSPCA. Not sure I would call the vet's practice as I would worry they would just take the vet's word over mine anyway, but if you think they would take it seriously then maybe give them a call.

The dogs are fine...I wouldn't be sat here if they weren't !!!
we were working out if we could get into car, then she came out...

10 minutes, and you were going to break her window?
I think dog owners need a dial card with the time on it that they can leave on the dashboard, so that hundreds of Mnetters don't get done for criminal damage and over-enthusiastic rescues.
No, leaving something alive in a car on a hot day is not a good idea, but what is the external temperature? Was the car in direct sunlight?

MissTaken62 · 29/08/2013 15:35

I was working out how to get in car if NEEDS be...
walked towards supermarket to get them to announce on the tannoy, then she came out...
Was just disgusted that it was a VET, let alone anyone else. Veats should know better...
Outside temp was 23 degrees...
