hand foot and mouth? chicken pox? Is she taking pain meds?

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 28/08/2013 20:44

Sounds like hand foot and mouth disease to me.

My 22 mo had it recently....it will go after about 1 week or so. She will prob be grotty for a few days, but just treat with calpol.

If blisters in mouth so bad she isn't drinking/eating then take her back to doctors.

I would prob take her back for a 2nd opinion anyway....

Does she have a rash on her hands and feet? It could be hand, foot and mouth?

Groovee · 28/08/2013 20:45

Sounds like hand foot and mouth. Give some neurofen and calpol.

redwellybluewelly · 28/08/2013 20:45

NHS Direct or your OOH, what antipyretics are you giving? (Paracetamol/Ibuprofen)

Fever isn't necessarily a bad thibg it shows the body is fighting an infection but dehydration could be a concern

Hope she gets better quickly

fedupandtired · 28/08/2013 20:45

If her condition has worsened and you're worried take her to out of hours.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 28/08/2013 20:45

Could be chickenpox - take her back to docs to be on the safe side.

Hope she feels better soon.

If she has got worse then seek further medical help.

Keep a close eye on fluid intake. Sryinge liquids in if needed. Keep on top of pain relief.

Hope she feels better soon

Hand foot and mouth? my daughter had it n wouldn't eat cos of blisters In mouth. Had them on soles of feet as well. She was grouchy for a few days but it passed quickly.

Bigcupoftea · 28/08/2013 20:48

Have you tried some calpol? If she is unable to take oral fluids or medication, I would probably get her checked over, do you have an OOH GP service?

TeamSouthfields · 28/08/2013 21:05

Think it is hand, foot and mouth...

Any reccs about what i can do for her pain?

Shes already taking regular calpol and ibuprofen

Would suggest syringing liquids directly into her mouth if not taking bottle/dummy to prevent dehydration, cool flannel to help with temp, or place her in a tepid bath, then sit her on a towel.

Thanks everyone
