To have a lazy day

Toddler up all night with a temperature but absolutely full of beans this morning. I just want to sit, and do nothing... I'm 6 months pregnant and so tired after being up so many times last night (and over the last week).
I've stuck cbeebies on but I'm feeling guilty...

Nope, no need to feel guilty - give yourself a day off. Do as little as possible.

Latara · 20/08/2013 10:08

Don't feel guilty, u are tired & need a good rest. Cbeebies won't do your toddler any harm. Just sit and chill out for a bit.

Bumbolina · 20/08/2013 10:21

Thank youSmile
Unfortunately - my 2 year old has decided that cbeebies just isn't cutting it and is demanding entertainment. Damn Show Me Show Me...
Need something high energy for her, low energy for me. She has hand, foot and mouth so we can't even meet up with anyone Hmm

Can you just stick her out in the garden?

Or play the "we're on a boat in the sea game" where youre both on the bed and dd has to 'swim' and fetch you odd items of 'treasure'

You get to have a lie down, she gets to burn off some energy!

Bumbolina · 20/08/2013 11:00

That could work Uri. I might play the 'lets pretend to sleep' game in a bit too Grin.

I've tried the garden but she insists on me playing with her out there.

I might just head down to the beach... let her run. That way she might actually nap, and then I'd get a proper rest.

I'm a bit Envy you're near a beach, I'd gladly move to the coast just for its power to induce sleep in toddlers!

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 20/08/2013 12:13

I'm with you OP! Go for it. Sometimes we have to....as parents we forget how bloody hard it is at times and we should have a lazy day. I'm joining you! I am meant to be starting some work today (work from home) but it's AWFUl and I may tell the client I can't do it...I've got the period from hell...MIL has the kids and I'm chucking a sickie! yay! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Bumbolina · 20/08/2013 12:20

Go for it Neo!

Well - I'm feeling a bit more alive, am on my third load of washing and have built my dd a den in the garden (sheets and chairs).

I'm blatantly having a second wind and will crash this afternoon quite dramatically though. Doh.

Uri - there are many benefits to living near the sea with a toddler! Even when she was tiny - a walk with the pram outside made you appreciate everything and chill when having a bad day.

Hell no! Do it.

DS (who is 2.7 and has no effing excuse) was up loads last night and I couldn't figure out why for the life of me. Nipped into town for essentials and am now in our PJs watching old Disney VHSs Smile

Calabria · 20/08/2013 12:45

Still in our PJ's here. DD* slept all night, got herself up at 9:30 and made her own breakfast. I am not pregnant.

If I can do it with no excuse what so ever I am sure no one will judge you for it ;)
