Was she invited?

Remember "no" is a complete answer if you dont want to do something.

Next problem please

applepieinthesky · 18/08/2013 20:34

Do you know me? Hmm

ricecakesrule · 18/08/2013 20:39

I'm not going to my sil's hen. Don't think it makes me a horrible person.

Gakkers · 18/08/2013 20:40

Ok that worked. So DSIS very easygoing sort. I organized low key hen in local town - tapas, drinks in no cover charge late bar. 10 of us went out in total and had a ball. I'm raging on behalf of DSIS as SIL made no effort to go as she is "broke". Eh yep, we all are with mortgages, all kids etc. She is pg and could have had tap water all night. We live in same town so I would have paid for taxi. This is the same SIL who's weekend long hen was 3 hours away and sister and I dutifully went, coughed up the cash and I was 6 mts pg with beginnings of spd.

She texted me earlier about something else and said hope you've recovered. I replied saying yes, it was a brilliant night pity you didn't make it. She replied, yeah would have loved to but ya know, no mon no fun.
Aibu to think she's a self centered cow with little regard for my sis?

Maybe she really is skint? If you were too skint to attend hers you could have said no...

Hen nights are not compulsory, are they?

lurkedtoolong · 18/08/2013 20:43

YABU, you don't know what her financial situation is - she's pregnant, could be feeling like crap, she could have real money worries and didn't want to rely on other people for money. If you all had a ball then why do you care that SIL didn't go?

mynameisslimshady · 18/08/2013 20:45

Self centred cow for not going on a night she coukdn't afford and wouldn't enjoy? Confused

Would you go out and drink tap water all night?

Spottypurse · 18/08/2013 20:45

She didn't want to go. And she didn't go. Meh. I didn't go to either of my SIL hen dos.

You sound like you didn't want to go to hers either. You shoukder have said no.

Spottypurse · 18/08/2013 20:46

SHOULD HAVE.

Have you read her bank statements? No? Then you don't know whether she is broke, do you?

WhereYouLeftIt · 18/08/2013 20:57

"SIL made no effort to go as she is "broke". Eh yep, we all are with mortgages, all kids etc."
Different people have different definitions of 'broke'. For some, it means there is not enough food in the house, for others that they can't have their Starbucks coffee every day. So what if her hen night was a big expensive do? Maybe she had money then?

YABU.

DontmindifIdo · 18/08/2013 20:58

You assume 'skint' means "actually has the money but has chosen to spend it on something else equally none-essential" - it could easily mean "does not have any fun/entertainment budget"

IvanaCake · 18/08/2013 20:58

YAB totally U.

Spottypurse · 18/08/2013 20:59

I was just going to post what has just been said. My best mate is skint when she can't afford to have a weekend away or a new handbag at 100 quid. When I'm skint it means I have a fiver to do til Friday.

hardboiledpossum · 18/08/2013 21:01

Yabvu

Gakkers · 18/08/2013 21:07

Fair enough. IABU but if the tables had been turned and I didnt go to her hen it would be A VERY BAD thing. No wouldn't be fun to drink water all night either, but I did at hers for a full weekend

OP posts:
Spottypurse · 18/08/2013 21:11

And you're maiming it a VERY BAD THING that she didn't go aren't you?

Spottypurse · 18/08/2013 21:12

Damn. Ipad. Making.

Gakkers · 18/08/2013 21:14

Spotty- nah not at all. Havent mentioned it to anyone other than you lot. And I won't be now that I have been advised that I'm BU!!

OP posts:
Meglet · 18/08/2013 21:18

Well, yabu. I didn't go to my sisters hen do as I can't stand the things.

BreeWannabe · 18/08/2013 21:22

YABU. And not very nice to be referring to her as a "self centred cow" on the Internet over something like this.

Spottypurse · 18/08/2013 21:27

Brit isa very big deal to you, from your OP?

JackNoneReacher · 18/08/2013 21:33

More fool you for going to hers for a whole weekend. Are you crazy?!
