To be offended by certain 'gentle parenting' FB groups

By the implication that I am somehow a less gentle parent because I use disposable nappies, FF rather than breast, and don't use a sling!
My twins seem to be thriving on it anyhow.

Why are you bothering to look at them?
There are a lot more offensive groups on FB. Hide them.

YouTheCat · 16/08/2013 11:48

How the fuck do they expect you to use a sling with twins? Hmm

Admittedly I did use a sling with mine but only if I was just out with one (ds had lots of hospital appointments).

I do know someone who breast fed her twins but she had a shedload of family support.

And I did consider using terry nappies with my two but gave up very quickly as I didn't have a washing machine.

If they are being judgemental twats, just leave the group.

Think "offended" is a bit strong.

Just live abd let live, hey?

WillyandTig · 16/08/2013 11:49

Why look at them if they offend you?

nothingtoseeheremoveon · 16/08/2013 11:51

I didn't go looking for them. FB suggested them when I did a search for baby groups in my city

FB keeps giving me advice on beauty and surgery for the over 50s. And sites with expensive handbags. I hide the lot.

Holio · 16/08/2013 11:53

Find Sanctimommy's page. Be happier. Grin

YouTheCat · 16/08/2013 11:54

FB keeps showing me pages for lesbian holidays.

I'm not a lesbian and I've never been on holiday. It's like it's taunting me. Grin

TripleRock · 16/08/2013 11:54

YABU. Their parenting choices or reasons for them don't make yours any less valid.

If you feel defensive it's coming from you.

Eyesunderarock · 16/08/2013 11:55

Ahh, the possibilities YoutheCat. Perhaps they want you to broaden your experience, like me being told I could look 20 years younger.

mynameisslimshady · 16/08/2013 11:58

There will always be something on the internet that will have a completely opposite view to yours, for every opinion you have and everything you do there is someone out there who will do the exact opposite.

Why get offended? Its only an opinion.

Just go and find a group that does share your views.

YouTheCat · 16/08/2013 11:58

It's like it's saying 'look, see what you could have if you'd just change your sexuality'. Grin

thebody · 16/08/2013 12:01

😃 you the cat.

op ignore them.

pianodoodle · 16/08/2013 12:13

I don't know if FB have any parenting groups to suit my needs.

I might start one called "Meh - they're fine"

YouTheCat · 16/08/2013 12:15

I'd join. Grin

quesadilla · 16/08/2013 12:15

didn't we have a thread about this a couple of weeks ago?
As far as I can see most of them are just a thinly veiled excuse for a big smugfest for the organic vegetable classes.

I think saying I'm "offended" by them would be stretch though. Just think they're all a bit silly really....

MissBetseyTrotwood · 16/08/2013 12:35

Check out Sanctimommy. There's your antidote!

chocoluvva · 16/08/2013 13:56

Thank goodness for technology I say - do the users of terry nappies also use reusable toilet roll for themselves?
Do they have neck/shoulder problems? - Not yet....

The use of the word 'gentle' is indeed [sceptical] and Shock. Gluttons for punishment might be more apt.
