my 1 year old was playing quietly with his building blocks for once when I looked up to see something in his mouth - it was a chunk of block which had sheared off. This block had obviously broken during manufacture and had been glued back together and painted so they could still sell it.

Surely, even after a year, a child's toy should still be safe for a child to play with? Wibu to bring this up with Argos?

Take it up with the manufacturer. But go via Trading Standards.

Agree that the manufacturer is the one to bring it up with.

Your contract is with Argos, so you should complain to them. They will take it up with the manufacturer.

It's the Sale of Goods Act which applies to this situation.
