To go round to neighbours about their dog??

It is constantly barking...the bark sounds like it's saying "Hey! Hey! Hey!" no joke...it's the weirdest bark ever...and it never goes for a walk EVER!

I have seen neighbours...they are an ordinary couple...mid 50s...their dog with the weird bark needs checking on no?

Is it just today it's been barking or is this normal?

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 11/08/2013 18:00

No...it barks all the time....I couldn't work out where it was coming from...which house iyswim because the dog is never taken out...I have listened carefully and DH has too and we agree it's three doors along.

It can speak. But you're the only person who can understand it. You should go round there and talk to it. It's going to tell you the meaning of life.

Or ask for a Bonio, one of the two.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 11/08/2013 18:00

It is doing it now...it's hoarse sounding.

Sofia maybe you're right! I am like Mrs Dolittle and the dog really IS saying "Hey"

Unless it's actually a small horse.

Maybe it's a malfunctioning security bark machine? When are they out of the house?

MelanieCheeks · 11/08/2013 18:09

Poor dog, it sounds bored and frustrated.

But I'm not sure what you think will happen if you go round - what are you going to say? Do you know these neighbours - how might they react?

OfficerMeow · 11/08/2013 18:11

Sorry I've just had a giggle about a dog shouting HEY at it's owners. In all seriousness go and talk to them and if you are not satified about their response then call the RSPCA

SofiaVagueara · 11/08/2013 18:12

Is it possible the dog is just really old which is why it's hoarse and doesn't go out much?

missrlr · 11/08/2013 18:15

No not at all. Go for it nice and calm

FlusteredFairy · 11/08/2013 18:32

Try and strike up a conversation with the couple preferably when they're with the dog. Then you could mention your concern casually without it coming across as complaining about the noise.

FlusteredFairy · 11/08/2013 18:37

If you never see the dog then maybe just talk to the couple but go easy because people get very defensive about their animals. It nice that you're concerned though.

MikeOxard · 11/08/2013 18:38

Yanbu, maybe they don't realise how long the dog is barking for - they might assume it settles down after they have left. I agree with pp that it is probably bored and frustrated and in need of a walk.

I'd prepare to be rudely dismissed by the owners though - nobody likes to be accused of not looking after their pet very well, especially when it's true.
