To feel guilty for being lazy.

I worked hard all last week and both Saturday and Sunday morning have been cleaning a garden centre but this afternoon was supposed to do leaflet distribution. I got out the car and the heavens opened so just drove home. I really want to grow my businesses and am now sat here feeling very guilty.

One commercial cleaning which is going great and one domestic cleaning which I am thinking of stopping. When you do house cleaning some customers treat you like dirt and I don't like doing the leaflet distribution.

sounds like a plan to grow the commercial cleaning. you need time off to be effective when you do ork. no shame in that.

Arnie123 · 11/08/2013 15:30

The private houses just does my head in. There is a better margin in it but some customers are a bloody nightmare. I had one woman underpay me by £8 last week as one bathroom tile was smeared. Another demanded I stay an extra hour or she would not pay me at all. One woman sent me a letter as a metal bath plug had not been polished and called my cleaner dense. Just because she was a professor well bully for her! I enjoy the commercial and find the majority of customers far more tolerant

I should add the woman who underpaid me was married to a multi millionaire. As I was cleaning I heard her go beserk as her husband had put a £1.50 stamp on an envelope when an 80p one would have been sufficient. She went to the kettle and steamed it off!

that's why they're millionaires, arnie Grin

ninah · 11/08/2013 15:36

you don't sound lazy at all to me btw. I could give you some serious lessons in sloth

Cravingdairy · 11/08/2013 15:45

You aren't lazy!

When your business is bigger you will be able to sack bad clients. If you need motivation maybe that will help.

Vivacia · 11/08/2013 15:48

YABU to use the term "to grow the business".

Arnie123 · 11/08/2013 15:51

Sorry vivacia I don't follow you on that. Why is it out of order? I am not trying to argue I am just seeking clarification

Could you find a local teen who wants to earn some cash to do some leaflet drops?

Vivacia · 11/08/2013 15:59

I was just being daft Arnie, I don't like the recent use of the term, "to grow a business". It's up there with "going forward" for me.

Arnie123 · 11/08/2013 16:02

I have a lovely cleaner who is looking for more cash and may ask her to do the drops. She is very trustworthy and I do not think they would end up in a ditch

You sound the opposite to lazy to me. And I'd be very hard pressed to not tell those people to fuck off and clean their own houses if they are going to be so fucking stupid.

This is why I am a graphic artist and don't work with the public much. Grin

Arnie123 · 11/08/2013 16:12

Oh I do tell the PITA customers so sling their hook. When customers start taking up a disproportionate time and effort they can end up costing the business as the time taken dealing with them could be better spent generating more customers

I am laid on the sofa eating fig rolls and debating wether to have a little snooze.

You have made me tired just reading your post.

(Disclaimer I do work hard, honest. I just needed a little downtime)

Arnie123 · 11/08/2013 18:57

Have just spent last three hours sorting payroll doing accounts and cleaning my house. Feeling a bit less guilty now

I know it costs more but you can get the people who deliver the free newspapers to deliver the leaflets. If you print them on brightly coloured paper they'd be noticed. I would concentrate on cleaning businesses if I were you - I couldn't be doing with some of those customers!

Vivacia · 12/08/2013 10:22

How often do you take a lazy half day or something?

SuperiorCat · 12/08/2013 10:31

Don't feel guilty everyone needs a rest. I'm still in bed drinking tea that DH brought me. Now I am lazy. And I don't care Grin

Arnie123 · 12/08/2013 13:22

I went in an hour late today because I got up to watch Breaking Bad this morning. It is my favourite tv show of all time and I knew spoilers would be all over the Internet this morning which they were. I have been cold calling this morning which I quite enjoy as I am saying the same thing every call so I go on auto pilot and have the Internet on in the background.
