Yesterday dh stood on a nail. We spent 5.5 hours in a and e and he was sent home with paracetamol and antibiotics. He was tamping they did not give him crutches. Once home I went and got him a takeaway as he was starving.

I slept on sofa to leave him snore and wriggle in peace. He was off work today as he is in too much pain to drive. He stayed in bed all morning, and I took kids out. He asked me to get him crutches which I managed to borrow for him.

He is acting like he has a broken leg, hobbling round going to lie down, saying he is ill. But us quite sprightly when he wants to go outside for a fag. I can't help feeling rather unsympathetic when he is acting like such a baby. Am I a bitch?

He's milking it and making butter and cheese as well. YANBU

Until I read this But us quite sprightly when he wants to go outside for a fag I thought you were being harsh, but if that is true then he's milking it.

Tell him smoking makes it harder for wounds to heal.

I think YAB a bit U.

That does sound really painful, and antibiotics can sometimes make you feel quite bad - he might get an upset stomach, which is a common side effect.

One of my friends stood on a piece of wood which went right into her foot, and she was really in lots of pain, and actually crutches would have been quite useful for her.

Be kind to him, even if you do think he's milking it, he's got an injury and does need sympathy. The next time you're ill, you can remind him of how nice you were to him. :)

I trod on a rusty nail aged8 - straight through the trainers and through the top of the foot. I was called Jesus for over a year.

BTW - YANBU. I was walking the next day. I wasn't sitting as the HUGE bloody needle for tetanus killed my poor arse.
