To expect the main grid to come out (sorry slight rant)

So we got home from work at 9:10pm last night round two notes in the door saying that national grid have been and changed battery on the gas meter outside, however second card then said it meter needs replacement, called them up as at this point we had no gas to cook, or to heat up for hot water. After many calls and "holding" we were told someone would be out by 2am, at 1:40 got a call saying no1 would be coming out and we would have to book an appointment, we are down as vulnerable due to my health and I need hot water daily. Anyhow cutting out yet more long calls the guy arrives at 7:30 am as after agreed moaning to us that he has had to get out of bed! We're not particularly happy either being we had 4 hours sleep, and again don't finish work till 9pm tonight!

Turns our local engineer refused to come out last night! Even though he should NEVER have touched the meter yesterday without us know he was even coming out

Sorry for the rant but feels slightly better now.

I would be putting a complaint in, in your situation! So many things done wrong its unreal!

When the movement of a gas meter was messed up at my parents (no medical needs or vunerability), and they were left without gas overnight, they got a delivery of a 2 ring gas cooker and bottle, and some portable heaters (it was cooler than currently) immediatly. They were also told to keep them, as it costs more to collect, check and store than to buy new!

Any chance of getting hot water through an immersion heater? Or don't you have a hot water tank?

Hope it all gets resolved today, and you survive til bedtime on that level of sleep.
