Just sent my very nice auntie the following texts in response to an 'are you ok?'

Me: I'm fine. I will tell you when I have the baby. But like I said, it's likely to be another two weeks!!

VNiceAunt: I meant did u go to surgery. Sorry for asking :-( dont mean to press wrong button!

Me: Sorry, it's just very annoying. I'm sure people think that if I did enough walking, fucking, raspberry tea drinking that I could hurry the baby along. But, actually there's nothing I can do apart from wait like everyone else. Like I said, I wouldn't expect anything to happen before Monday 19 aug at earliest now as they won't induce before 42 weeks :(

I'm a cow. Hmm But I'm 40 + 2 today and fed up with the 'are you ok?' (AKA have you had the baby and not told anyone??) messages already.

Even my partner seems to think that there's something I can 'do' to make this happen. Grrr!

AIBVU or should people who've not given birth have to learn that it's very bloody annoying checking up on an overdue pregnant woman?

At no point did you answer the poor bints question : "did you go to surgery today' Confused

But I'm going to back away slowly from the overdue pregnant lady Wink

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 05/08/2013 14:57

Oh go on, surely you can squeeze it out Grin

Finola1step · 05/08/2013 15:05

Turn off your phone. Put on the telly. Feet up. Chocolate. Ignore the fuckers. Revel in your grumpiness. Enjoy.

P.s I went to 42 weeks with my ds so you have my full sympathies.

Thyeternalsummer · 05/08/2013 15:09

There was an earlier 'X at work says to have lots of sex to hurry the baby up' type message as well, so not completely out-of-the-blue snappy.

But if sex actually did help, I'd have been down the docks already, on all fours with a 'help yourself' sign painted on my bare backside Wink Alas, I can vouch for the fact that even the most 'energetic' DTD does naff all.

Nor does pineapple, walking or bloody raspberry tea!

How about getting your dp to wank into some tea? Isn't that what Michael McIntyre said Grin

Thyeternalsummer · 05/08/2013 15:14

Wank into tea???

Will have to check that sketch out on YouTube. Hope no one is snooping on my Internet search history! Grin

Apparently his wife was in a similar situation. And apparently I am a walking McIntyre dictionary today Wink

Failing that, I'd try the rough sailor sex. Sounds kinda fun Grin Good luck Smile

Ahahahahahaha "if sex actually did help, I'd have been down the docks already, on all fours with a 'help yourself' sign painted on my bare backside"

^ This is the most accurate and hilarious thing I have ever read.

Ds was born at 40+4 and these texts annoyed the crap out of me as well.

CabbageLooking · 05/08/2013 15:20

Thyeternalsummer I feel your pain. My DS was 16 days late before he was induced. It was maddening and made more so not because people kept asking but because people would keep texting/calling and pussyfoot around the issue. They clearly wanted to ask and I was more popular than I'd ever been in my life before but the moment they realised that there was no squawking baby in the background, they got off the phone as fast as possible!

The very worst moment (and the closest I came to murder) was when my sister suggested that I was subconsciously holding my cervix closed. I deserve some sort of medal for not punching her in the face for that one.

Good luck!

ineedtogetoutmore · 05/08/2013 15:28

lol ... no one would even come to visit me at the end of my pregnancy i just felt so grumpy, fat and hot.
my poor dh had to sit in the house in the middle of december in a coat as i had all the doors and windows open from being too hot and wore shorts and a t shirt all the time.
i even got wedged in the sofa at 40 weeks and my mum had to come up let herself in and hoist me out i then sat sulking and she left. i was VU but everyone laughs about it now....

normally im a very reasonable person you cant help it in the last few days...its your hormones Grin

Thyeternalsummer · 05/08/2013 15:30

'Subconsciously holding your cervix closed'??!! Shock

You should obviously work in international diplomacy or some other such role suited to your superhuman powers of self-restraint.

Luckily DP not suggested anything like that to me yet.

Your poor Auntie!
Did you really text 'fucking' to her? Shock
