To be distraught that my new sofa is uncomfy?

Yes, I know I am lucky to have a sofa etc but my new Laura Ashley sofas are not comfy and I am really upset about it. With a toddler and another baby arriving imminently we do spend most of our time on the sofas in the evening and when I start bf again with the new one I think half my daytime as wrll as evening will be spent on the sofa! I have complained but they say it's a matter of taste. They look gorgeous but just not comfy to sit on.

Do they do a 28 day warranty thing,, if you don't like it, you can return it?

Have you just ordered without trying?

Our Laura Ashley sofa was a bit disappointing as we have loads of space but it is really quite small and we can't all spread out on it as I anticipated.
We made the mistake of just ordering online without looking at it first,

You just get used to it.

You don't have any other option but to just get used to it, do you?

Oh no, you have my sympathies. My favorite places in the world are my bed and my sofa.

What's uncomfortable about them? Is it anything that could be solved with cushions? Or maybe look at getting a different kind of foam cut for the main cushions if the covers are removable. It would be cheaper than replacing if you can't return or exchange them.

If you can get a decent price for them you could sell them and put towards a new sofa, but I have to say it'd be hard. Most people are after a bargain when they buy second hand.

If you ordered online I think you can return it within 7 days under the distance selling act (please check this though as I'm not 100% sure it's true for everything)

If you tried it in store then you could see what their returns policy is.

Won't they become comfy with some wear?

After your arse has been the 1000 one to have settled on the sofa in the shop it has become comfy through multiple use.

Get your toddler to wear it in.

We did try in the shop and it was fine. We wouldnt risk ordering a sofa online. But ours has really flat cushions which you have to try and buff up every night like a feather pillow. They must buff them the whole time in the shop so th display one is comfy. Ours is ok when freshly puffed up but once you've been sat for half an hour it's flat as a pancake again. I am loathe to replace the cushions but I guess it's either change pad, sell, or put up with it!

Sell on eBay? If you do it quickly you might get back a lot of what you paid, especially if it is still in the shops..

Are they fibre filled cushions or foam?

The frequent plumping suggests fibre which will mould to you as you sit in it but shouldn't be completely flat after half an hour

I would report them as faulty and get them to send one of their engineers to look at it

I would contact them and say the cushions are too flat - they should refill or replace them for you.

my mothers ( down filled ) Laura Ahley sofas used to tip you off of the seat!
now they are 'broken in' and extremely comfortable.

if its not an issue you can see righting itself i would definitely take action.

I would complain that they are not fit for purpose - no sofa should need re plumping every half an hour in order to be comfy. Contact trading standards if the shop won't refund.

If you change the pads to foam then it may make them a lot more comfortable. It is normal for some cushion to need to be plumped every day which is why I would never have them
Were the sofas made up for you with your choice of fabric? Or were they shop floor ones?

Laura Ashley returns policy is very clear. It is going to depend what type of sofa you have bought.

I agree, but LA would probably say that's how they are meant to be.

I highly recommend Ikea's Ektorp for your next purchase with which we replaced our impractical (but still comfortable at least) cream sofas.

Thats totally not ok. The one you tried is false advertisement in my opinion.

You wouldnt put up with a brand new car that had to have its tires constantly pumped up just because it was ok when you took it out on a test drive.

A sofa is a big purchase, and you spend a lot of time on it, so you are not unreasonable to be upset. I took years choosing mine! I find most modern sofas are way so soft and unsupportive, so I have had to choose a futon one (again), though not ideal.

Went on a tourist trip to Harrods last weekend and spotted a sofa across the room... It was like love at first sight, I had to sit in it.

I dragged my Mum and Aunties over and my god I've never loved anything like that sofa, it was the squidyiest most incredible thing I've ever experienced. £6000 spare (and a ginormous living room) spare and I've have had it in a heartbeat!

(Dragged my OH over to sit in it after he finished work. He found it a bit too squashy and said he'd need a chair too, I said if he bought me the sofa if buy him the chair...!)

Sorry I have nothing really to add to this thread other than don't make too with a dodgy sofa, our 2nd hand £300 one from eBay is lovely (though not quite as lovely as the one from Harrods...)

Hello, sorry to be a bit late to the thread but we too recently bought some LA sofas. We were advised not to order the sumptuous fibre filling we had sat on in store but to go for foam/fibre which requires less plumping... Well they are the hardest most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat on. Would not recommend Laura Ashley at all. We ordered them in a purple velvet which is marked and even has a click in the fabric. Laura Ashley are not interested at all.

Please do not order from Laura Ashley... rubbish customer service and rubbish product. It looks good but absolutely not fit for purpose as a comfy sofa.
