... to hope Lewisham Hospital is safe now?

Judicial review outcome - Jeremy Hunt acted outside his powers when he decided to downgrade Lewisham's A&E and maternity provision. The whole story is an absolute disgrace. Two other NHS trusts in SE London are in difficulties because of PFI costs. The solution proposed is that Lewisham, our local hospital, a teaching hospital which is not in financial trouble and is consistently providing a good service right across the board, should be downgraded and these services given to the struggling neighbours so that the PFI providers (private companies) don't lose money. Labour are just as much to blame as the Tories as this started in their time. PFI is a disaster for the public sector - completly unaffordable.

Fingers crossed that the government goes back to the drawing board now!

I'm very proud of everyone who made this campaign happen. Power to the people!

This may feel like good news, but it's not. It's a recipe for stasis and too much care happening in hospitals.

I doubt the London stroke reconfig currently saving hundreds of lives a year and enjoying very wide support ever have got through in this new world of CCGs having veto powers.
