Every morning for the past 3 days some one has been letting their dog shit right outside my front door.

It's definitely dog, not fox or cat.

Next step polite notice if that fails, CCTV.

Why don't you put some biological washing liquid down. It will get rid of the marking smell. Maybe doggy will do somewhere else. Obviously owner hasn't got any little bags, or guilt/ community spirit.

You could put up a sign saying
"Use the little bags you dirty bird, yes, you! I can see you, you know!"

Feel for you, this is really gross.

MarmaladeTwatkins · 30/07/2013 13:22

EUGH the dirty articles

I would lie in wait for them and then when they came to make a deposit, surprise them by launching at them from a bush, armed with a bag and a shovel.

StickyProblem · 30/07/2013 13:23

We have dog poo wardens - if people leave dog poo at the same time every day you can let the warden know and they'll come and catch them, and they get fined. Does your council have that?

Peachyjustpeachy · 30/07/2013 13:23

my neighbour draws around hte mess outside his house with chalk and leaves messages.

more mess arrives every day. its almost as if the dog's owners are mocking him.

Disgusting really.

Cherriesarelovely · 30/07/2013 13:23

How disgusting. I loathe dog owners like this giving the rest of us a bad name and not clearing up after their dogs. In your place I wouldn't leave that polite a notice!

Cherriesarelovely · 30/07/2013 13:24

I agree with Sticky, that would be a great solution and hopefully a lesson learned.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 30/07/2013 13:26

Can you leave a polite notice like 'Free poo bags!' And hang some off the gate latch?

liquidstate · 30/07/2013 13:28

We received not from the local police/PCO through our door as a dog was doing this to a neighbour. I think they sent notes to everyone on our cul de sac. The note threatened action against the dog owner.

Maybe worth contacting the local PCO to see what they can do?

emilialuxembourg · 30/07/2013 13:30

Has someone got something against you seems a bit of a coincidence.

cocolepew · 30/07/2013 13:36

We had a woman who used to let her dog shit in our gardens, we live in a cul de sac. We phone the council but the dog warden didn't start work before the phantom shitter was about. Me and my friend gave her bags, were polite, were rude but still she carried on. We found out were she lives and posted her dog shit through her letter box.
Never saw her again.

Crinkle77 · 30/07/2013 13:42

i think people who leave their dog poo will carry on doing it on purpose especially if they know it riles people so i don't think leaving poo bags or signs will work. If they cared that much they wouldn't leave their dog shit in the first place. I saw a gate recently that had a sign on it asking people not to hang their poo filled bags there and guess what there were loads of them hanging there. Obviously people were doing it for a laugh.

Theladyinthevan · 30/07/2013 13:43

Thanks for the input.

I'm making the sign up this afternoon (and laminating it of course) Grin

Out front now smells of Aldi bio washing liquid!
Tho my stones have a lovely blue shade to them

Alas, no gate to hang the bags off but may attach to sign.

Can't think that I've upset anyone, if I had I would expect them to come speak to me rather than let their dog do this. Are you thinking they are planting the turd there?!

Will contact dog warden if it persists after I've put the sign up.

I go with cocolepew ; best thing to do is find out who it is and post the shit through his own door or if you can find a human Who is deranged enough then send them to shit on the doorstep of the dog owner.Grin

aliciaflorrick · 30/07/2013 15:10

My neighbours dogs did this to me, I warned him once and he still let them out to roam free and crap on my doorstep, so the next time I scooped it up and put it on his step. Never happened again after that.

Onesleeptillwembley · 30/07/2013 15:46

I'd wait, follow them home and put it through their door again. Don't forget the marigolds.

oldgrandmama · 30/07/2013 16:30

This is really unkind, but it should work: scatter some chilli powder (sold in all supermarkets) around and on the area. When doggy sniffs to get the correct little patch to dump ... AAARGH! Won't do him any lasting harm but I bet he'll avoid your place like hell. Might take a few applications. (Be careful you don't tread in the powder, unless you want red footprints all over your house).

TheFuzz · 30/07/2013 20:42

Was going to suggest chilli powder.

NotYoMomma · 30/07/2013 20:58

someone I know used chalk to circle it and write

'Dirty scum, I'm watching and filming'

it stopped Grin
