We moved and Pil have been good in helping us for two weekends running, I have really appreciated their help, but I ended up having a mini breakdown a few days ago and I said.

I felt smothered as a family we had not spent any time together since moving in, we had Pil and my Dp's brother and their kids, sil etc here and we were trying to sort the house out, I had seen any of my family .

Everyone was laughing at Dp as he worked, it was boiling and he was not happy, causing friction between us.

I had to ask the kids to go downstairs as they were running around with felt tips on the new carpets.

I was trying to sort the bedroom so we could sleep later, but felt like I had to host making teas and I felt overwhelmed tired and annoyed, and had to ask the kids to go downstairs in the end.

I have thanked Pil for their help and bought a bunch of massive flowers for Mil but found myself saying we needed time alone now as a family so aibu.

Sorry I meant to say should I say sorry to Fil as I said to Mil a few things that he was doing that had upset me.

It all came out after that probably did not help that I did not feel so great either.

Why on earth did you need anyone else's dc around when you had just moved. Lunch in those circumstances would have been sandwiches and fruit - possibly bought.

bluebellsinthewood · 28/07/2013 18:18

Because Fil was questioning what I had done with my DC's,and I said nothing I had a very good reason I had a sciatica but felt I did not need to explain to him.

It felt like I was a lazy parent , and it was the first day on the holidays I was exhausted and in pain.
