To hate celebrity versions of quiz shows?

Just that. Tonight is all star Mr and Mrs and tipping point celebrities on ITV.

What is wrong with normal versions? Why do they always have to make these celebrity versions?

A particular low point of celebrity versions was Myleene Klass on Celebrity Mastermind. Her specialist subject was Sex in the City:Season 3, not all the seasons, just season 3.

You would never get away with that on normal Mastermind, would you?

ViviPru · 21/07/2013 20:05

Your first mistake was switching to ITV1 in the first place. I'm not entirely sure we even have that channel on our PVR

I'm actually quite partial to a smidge of All Star Mr & Mrs

AKissIsNotAContract · 21/07/2013 20:06

I had to google every 'celebrity' Mastermind tonight. I hadn't heard of any of them.

PastaBeeandCheese · 21/07/2013 20:07

YANBU. As if these z listers don't get enough exposure. I can't watch celebrity quiz things despite quite liking a quiz show.

It's so unnecessary. William G Stewart never felt the need to have a celebrity 15-1 did he?

OwlinaTree · 21/07/2013 20:07

Although we do get the amazing title of Pointless celebrities!

Lolling at Myleene on mastermind.

Celebrity Mastermind and Pointless are always dumbed downed compared to the usual ones Grin.

abuhamzamouse · 21/07/2013 20:08

Quite like "pointless celebrities"- sums it up rather nicely!

Once watched Family Fortunes for ages before realising it was some minor celebrity version.

However, Jedward on celebrity Big Brother were amazing!

The whole point of Mr & Mrs was to have lovely old couples called Bill and Moira from Burgh-by-Sands answering questions about how he liked his tea in the morning, and whether they met at a dance or at church, or possibly at a church dance. I do not wish to hear the intimate details of Eamon Holmes (or similar)'s home life. That's what OK magazine's for.

I recommend Challenge. They re-run entire nights of my 80s childhood on there: 3-2-1, followed by Bullseye, with Stars in Their Eyes. The hysteria when Jim offers contestants the chance to win a complete set of wicker garden furniture and a Commodore 64 home computer! And that's another thing: people actually looked thrilled to win £210 on the early stages of a game the speedboat, not so much.

Wishfulmakeupping · 21/07/2013 20:17

I really wish they'd bring back stars in their eyes the final was a big deal in our house Grin

OwlinaTree · 21/07/2013 20:18

Challenge was my hangover telly, not sure we have it any more. Think we used to watch takeshi's castle?

Aside from the title Pointless Celebrities makes me want to scream, it is so dumbed down.

Yanbu

OwlinaTree · 21/07/2013 20:19

Did they do a celebrity stars in their eyes, celebrities impersonating other celebrities? That would be weird!

OP posts:
TheHandbagOfGlory · 21/07/2013 20:22

They did, in particular I remember Eamonn Homes doing Johnny Cash and singing Ring of Fire, which made me laugh as it sounded like he had terrible haemorrhoids Confused

Justforlaughs · 21/07/2013 20:24

The only good thing about celebrity versions, is that half the time the celebrities have never watched the show and have no idea as to the rules. Eg. Some idiot on pointless celebrities thought they had to give the most obvious answer and couldn't work out why they were out Grin and Clarissa (possibly of the Two Fat Ladies), who appeared on that "say what you see" show (can't remember the proper name), and had absolutely no idea what she was supposed to be doing. She was absolutely hilarious! The questions are always really dumber down though. I also remember Simon Cowell on "Who wants to be a Millinaire" not knowing the answer to the £32k question, partner was dithering whether to go for it and Simon says "do it, if it's wrong I'll put the money in myself, it's only £32" Envy

Lighthousekeeping · 21/07/2013 20:24

My nieces would love Stars in their Eyes!

I miss the price is right.

Justforlaughs · 21/07/2013 20:25

£32k Envy

OwlinaTree · 21/07/2013 20:27

Wow handbag that sounds... unmissable Wink

Trying to think of some... what about Kerry Katona as Christina Aguilera?

josephinebruce · 21/07/2013 20:33

Don't ever know who the celebrity is.
Hate quiz shows and game shows anyway (shudders)

CSIJanner · 21/07/2013 20:42

OwlinaTree · 21/07/2013 20:52
