To plan a surprise weekend away the week before we move house?

We are moving the weekend after next. The weekend before and the weekend after are both long weekends (not in UK). We had discussed going away for the second, which has Thu and Fri off (this coming week we have Friday off).

It's DH's birthday this week, and as I have been too disorganised to buy him a present, I have been planning to organise this weekend away.

The place I want to go to, and the flights, work out at about 200pounds cheaper if we go this weekend (ie. the weekend before we move). I can't ask DH, as he desperately wants a surprise. I did just initiate a chat about the logistics of moving, and he is adamant that he can get it all packed up during the week when I'm at work (he's a SAHD) so we won't be packing over the weekend anyway.

Should I just book it? Or is this insane?

Only you know the answer! It might be nice to make plans, discuss things and have fun before the exhaustion of moving. If you don't have children and its a relatively straight-forward move, I would say go for it. If not, maybe wait till after, you'll need a holiday probably Hmm

We have a 2 year old and a 4 year old.

I feel like I really need a holiday now, but then I'm really impatient and it is so much cheaper!
