I have just used Marks and Spencer online for the first time. I wont be doing it again. Paid extra for next day delivery. The package was left on my doorstep...I have been up since 8 so unless was before that they didnt even ring bell and stuff could have been pinched.
When I opened it a pair of shoes for my daughter had one size 3 and one size 4. I have phoned to ask for return and swap they dont do that. I can reorder and then take the shoes back to the store for refund. I dont have time to do that - its why I ordered online!!!! I would be out of pocket until get chance to get to shop. I have changed my money for holiday and dont have the money in the account to reorder either. So no shoes, £20 down, DD gets to look at the shoes she chose but not wear them. We are skint too!!!!!
This just wouldnt happen with NEXT
GOD I NEEDED TO GET THAT OFF MY CHEST

I don't shop with Debenhams online anymore for the same reason- they don't collect many of their items, so you have to go to the Post Office yourself to send them back, plus last time I had two different offices to send back to which made it really complicated -two separate parcels and making the trip was just way more hassle than online shopping should be. I love the companies that get a collection person to come to your door- surely this is standard for so many companies, I don't get why the likes of M & S and Debenhams don't get this (and Debenhams advertise free collection and return but only for certain items but mysteriously all of my 5 items to return fell out of the collection category, what a concidence!)

Thats what pisses me off - you shop online to make life easier but the hoops they want you to jump through when THEY fuck up makes it twice as difficult. I wouldnt mind if I had ordered wrong size or the like.

Their website says you can return by post

pumpkinsweetie · 20/07/2013 12:19

Glad i read this, so i know not to buy from them, that is shocking!

LJL69 · 20/07/2013 12:23

I know trinity but it is an extra hassle I dont need. It would be fine if I had mucked up the sizing but They sent two different sized shoes in a pair. I just needed a rant and was annoyed because I rate their stores. We are going on holiday early hours Wed and have so much to fit in pre then. I ordered online so I could save me extra jobs. xx

Complain, they might give you some vouchers or something?

LJL69 · 20/07/2013 12:31

Worth a shot I suppose Loopy. Thanks all - I really needed people just to pat me on head and agree. My DD while pissed off about it just doesnt cut it when I need to rant x

That is dreadful. Complain and keep complaining. You should be refunded the postage you paid as they didn't fulfil the terms of their contract to deliver the items you ordered.

KissMyStardust · 20/07/2013 13:08

that is shocking service- I'll not bother with the online order was going to do now. Back to Next for me!

LJL69 · 20/07/2013 17:14

I have emailed NEXT to tell them I appreciate their service.

Mand S Have refunded my delivery payment - doesn't solve the problem though. I decided to suck it up and order another pair on another card - guess what? Out of bloody stock now in her size

Complain online, under the customer reviews the item you were sent. I did this for bouquet my mum had sent me which had broken stems and someone phoned me to apologise and sent a refund and another bunch of flowers.

Make sure you register and include your phone number in the customer details.

orangeandemons · 20/07/2013 17:32

I find postal orders a double edged sword.

Courier calls, no one in, they need a signature, arrange rede livery, courier calls, no one in, they need a...repeat ad infinitum.

Only open office hours for collection, but of course you are at work, hence courier calls, no one in etc etc

CSIJanner · 20/07/2013 17:47

Ring them up. It can't be out of stock as you have one in the correct size at your house. It's partner must be another lurking in the warehouse...

LJL69 · 20/07/2013 17:49

Thanks guys. I agree CSI - the other shoe must be somewhere. Or some other poor person has one of each size too. If only I knew who they were and we could just swap!

Orangeandlemons Many online stores allow you to call the courier and arrange a time convenient for you for pick-up, that way no-one is inconvenienced. Ours are local and come round an hour later to the door. I have found M&S stock to be terribly low online as well, half the children's stuff is in such a restricted size (one size out of 10) they should really take it off the website.

LJL69 · 20/07/2013 17:52

I did ring....they were great in as much as "trained sympathy" I am so sorry, thats disgraceful etc. Which is fine but when I asked how they would sort it given I couldnt get to a store etc pre holiday (shoes were for holiday) I was asked "What would you like me to do?" While said very politely it felt like a "What do you want ME to do about it?"

GettingVerySleepy · 21/07/2013 07:26

LJL69 they don't necessarily have the other shoe lurking somewhere. Some people have two different size feet so someone may have ordered two pairs, kept one of each size deliberately and returned one of each pair for a refund. That returned "pair" is I'm guessing what you got.

teacherandguideleader · 21/07/2013 08:15

Next delivered to my wheelie bin once (on bin day - I lost all my parcels but they did refund). It is often not the shop but the courier they use. On the other hand, I've never had a problem with M&S. I do tend to use collect in store these days though to avoid the problem.
