So annoyed, sofa dumped in my back garden

So I come home from a stifling hot day at work to find a sofa dumped in my back darden. I live in a block of flats so it is not a secure garden, but is mine and has a low gate and fence.
I rang the council up to inform them and was told that ai would have to pay for it to be removed as I have no transport to get rid myself! I was very annoyed and said that I would simply move it to a communal area as a) I cannot afford to pay to have it removed and b) I don't go out to work to pay for a lazy layabout to dump their rubbish in my garden. I was told I could potentially be fined myself for fly tipping as they couldn't prove it want mine! I went out to move it in a foul mood and was called over by some other residents to say that the tenant next door to me had dumped it there. I was livid as she has her own garden! I left it outside her garden and rang the council. Eventually got put through to a lovely lady who is going to arrange for it to be removed and write to the tenant involved. The neighbour is vile, constantly swearing at her kids, throwing rubbish and used nappies unbagged in communal areas and drinks cans straight out of her front window into the communal front garden. I'm so annoyed with her. She is the type of person who would happily shout and have a go at me in front of my 5 year old DS. I wish that decent, law obiding people didn't have to put up with this behaviour and people like her could be shipped off to their own island where they can upset each other without normal people having to suffer. I'm actually terrified to go out again now for fear of what she may do, we share a communal hallway and our doors are opposite each other :(

Yanbu, she's sounds awful. Keep your head up. You've done nothing wrong

WorraLiberty · 18/07/2013 22:40

I thought councils took soft furnishings like sofas and mattresses away for free?

She sounds like a total waste of space, loser. Glad you did not stand for her shit. It would have been seriously unfair if you had had to pay to have sofa removed. Fingers crossed for you that she gets evicted soon.

You can get a reduction if you get housing benefit but you still have to pay now, it was free in our county until a couple of years ago though. I just can't believe the cheek of her. I know that social care/services are involved because of the children. I rang them up anonymously from work a few weeks ago as I was so concerned about their treatment. They are constantly shouted and sworn at. I was waiting outside for driving lesson last week, her 3 year old tried to talk to her and was told to "shut the fuck up." It's no life for those poor children and proving unbearable being her neighbour. You can hear the shouting from up the road. I am hoping that she doesn't kick off, I suffer from anxiety and hate conflict, DS has autism and will be terrified if she starts on me. I just can't believe that someone could be so rude to just dump a manky sofa in the garden of a neighbour. Thanks will definitely be straight on to the police, I have seen them there before and I think she's pretty well known to them.

Can i send my upstairs neighbours to the island too? They cannot walk to the end of the path to put their rubbish bags in the bin but leave them on the path = cats and foxes = used nappies all over the path. Urgh!

Yuck , it's even worse in this heat too. Feel for you. I ended up picking up used nappies and binning them the other day as I could no longer stand it. They need shipping off together ASAP!
