To consider keeping DC off school tomorrow

DC finish school/nursery next Wed, Both are very tired and covered in heat rash.
DD1 had sports day today and was sitting out in the sun for 2 hours with no shade, then went for lunch 10 mins after it finished and was out for another hour. She came home very tearful and her heat rash had spread so was even more itchy.
DD2 is also covered in heat rash and isn't handling the heat very well, she is having massive melt downs over the smallest things which isn't like her. Both aren't sleeping very well despite our best efforts to cool their bedrooms down. So WIBU to keep them off?

Yanbu. Get a fan for their room, keep them cool and let them catch up on sleep. X

keep them off

It's totally reasonable and sensible to keep them off school. This hot weather is hard work.

I get terrible heat rash with standard sun cream but can highly recommend Sunsense. It was prescribed for our son who has eczema and is great stuff. Might be worth a try.

Plenty of cool showers help ease heat rash. I'd avoid putting any after sun on as it might well make it worse.

I'm pretty sure piriton will help ease the itching of heat rash, (just check the label) It also makes mine more sleepy which is not a bad thing when they're all itchy.

Thanks for the advice, we have spent all day playing in the paddling pool. The piriton has knocked them both out so hopefully the rash will have gone down abit tomorrow and I'm going to look for the suncream at the weekend.
