To think threatening to "twat" a toddler is despicable

I have not been having much luck at Asda recently. First my post about someone pooing on the toilet floor and now this. I was going into the shops today when a woman was leaving with a toddler who was having a paddy wag. She ran up to the child (why on earth she was not holding the child's hand in a busy car park is another matter).

All of a sudden she shouted "come here now or I will f*ing twat you, you are getting a real twatting when you get home.

I did not say anything but could not help staring at her with a disgusted face. The next thing she was on at me "what are you fing staring at I will Fing twat you".

Unfortunately she got into a taxi not a car as if I could have got the registration I could have reported it to the police and social services.

I just feel so bad for the little girl.

If a similar situation arises (something similar has happened about a year ago at the same supermarket) what would you advise I do?

Hmm. your Asda seems quite feral.

I don't have that problem in mine.

Yes, go to a different shop...

I would have followed her to get the address and reported her for threatening behaviour and make sure the police (if they turn up) document your concerns

Arnie123 · 16/07/2013 14:33

She was just getting into a taxi and by the time I would Have walked back to my car it would be long gone.

It is a feral Asda (in the roughest part of Bolton). The same thing happened about a year ago when this man threw a 7 year old girl onto is back and called her a f*in stupid bitch.

We don't live in the 50s any more but many many people do sadly. The physical abuse rates do not support the verbal rates so we have to conclude that some of the children threatened like this are just threatened not beaten. The difficulty is that none of us are qualified to say who is at risk and who isn't. Reporting asda incidents may be futile or they may be the first step to a new life. Often education is enough. On balance I would rather give ss a call with a description they do nothing with than leave it.

Many many moons ago a lady just driving past reported an incident that - eventually- revealed my h was a child abuser. I had no idea. I am ever grateful to the interfering busy body who made a call that day. From tiny acorns mighty Oaks grow - my children are now Oaks thank goodness.

Wishfulmakeupping · 16/07/2013 15:28

Yes if you know the name of firm and time you could still report it?

Jan49 · 16/07/2013 15:34

But what did she actually mean when she said "come here now or I will f*ing twat you, you are getting a real twatting when you get home"?Confused

Fakebook · 16/07/2013 15:36

Here's a thought, why not stop shopping at your local ASDA? I'd have thought the poo incident would have been the final straw Hmm.

Fakebook · 16/07/2013 15:37

Yes I also don't know what "twatting" means. My iPhone is autocorrecting it to "thwarting", so maybe same thing?

BadRoly · 16/07/2013 15:44

When I grew up in Yorkshire many years ago Grin, twat meant hit. It's only as an adult I learnt that it's alternate meaning

I saw a woman kicking the crap out of her son years ago (I was working in a petrol station at the time and he was really horrid, aged about 8 and would come in and threaten to get his dad to rape me and made really nasty personal comments) part of me wanted to walk on by but couldn't, ice cream van was there and I asked her if she had also witnessed and she had but was scared of the family. I went 3 doors up to my house and called the police and reported her and cited the ice cream lady who was a witness and they took it really seriously. Sadly I guess he ended up in care as she was sent to prison for trafficking heroin a year later. I really thought I hated that kid but seeing him lying on the gravel being kicked in the face really upset me.

Belated, what a balanced and honest post.
