Kids in paddling pool

So, we went to local club At the w/end Lovely big paddling pool and a tiny one. My DC ask if they can go in the big one (they are 7 and 4)We ask the person who brought it he said ok, then one if the committee members comes out asks why they are in it. I said x said it was ok. She then told x he should be stricter and that it was for the adult players (we are talking about a paddling pool) I asked if she wanted me to get them out, she said she didn't want to be the bad guy. Later more kids arrive and join DC and then x and committee member get upset and have a go at DH (we left immeadiately) AIBU to think that telling kids they can't go I paddling pool in 30 degree heat and that its just for adults is a bit unreasonable?? Confused

Grin Lol at the paddling pool just being for the adults. How Confused.

You say 'players' though was it some sort of paddling pool game?

Bowlersarm · 16/07/2013 10:52

I'm not sure!

What was the club? Did the adults use the paddling pool? Was there enough room in the smaller one for all the children?

chazbomb · 16/07/2013 10:53

No it's a cricket club!

No smaller pool was a baby one. The player were still
Playing and I had offered to remove my kids. I just think its a bit silly to but a lovely big inviting paddling pool where they know kids will be but not be happy for the kids to go in!

Grin @ 'paddling pool game'

Great idea, TheMoonOnAStick in this heat. (Thinking of a new cutting edge game invention thingy to be played in paddling pools.....by adults and children in matching paddling pools, although obvs a smaller one for for the kids)

AudrinaAdare · 16/07/2013 10:57

Very odd. Was the big one an actual paddling pool or one of those deep ones that a child might get into trouble in?

RobotBananas · 16/07/2013 10:57

Why did they have a kids paddling pool for the adults? Confused

I wouldn't have left, I would have just pulled this face Hmm and asked him what he was talking about Grin

chazbomb · 16/07/2013 11:07

It was up to the kids knees. (Party pool from Argos)But all parents were obviously watching. They had it to cool off after the game. There was just some grass in the water. No tiny kids in nappies or peeing in he water or anything horrible! Just found it odd that all the kids were having fun(perhaps a little loud) parents buying drinks from the bar, so money going to the club and we get that grief!

He sounds like a really fun bloke to have around! Grin

On the fence here.
Because if they'd put out a paddling pool for the dc and one for the adults, once you get some kids in the adult one then they'll all follow (as you saw). And my dc would have wanted to go in if they'd seen it whatever the weather.

Possibly the concern would be that the adults could knock the smaller ones over, and they didn't want the adults having to be careful of them, which is perfectly reasonable.

Perhaps the reasonable thing to say would have been that the children can go in until the end of the match, when it will be reserved for the players.

I can understand them feeling a bit put out if they'd gone to the effort of getting and filling a pool for the players and find that it's full of children before the players get to it, and then the players say "no don't worry, the children are in there."

Fakebook · 16/07/2013 11:32

Isn't a paddling pool for adults called a hot tub? Yanbu, what a bunch of weirdos.

chazbomb · 16/07/2013 11:55

The match hadn't finished. A couple of adults had been in there before they went out to bat and Dc had got in. If they'd said get them out of we would have but just to have a strop and only have a go at DH when lots of other people kids were also in it!

I am finding it bizarre that there is a paddling pool - for adults - at a cricket match Confused.

Is this normal, or a bit weird?

angelsonhigh · 16/07/2013 12:25

I'm with you Bowler

Sparklingbrook · 16/07/2013 12:26

I'm with you Bowlers. I have not seen this before. Grin

maddy68 · 16/07/2013 12:45

actually if teh pool was for the players to get into and cool off afterwards and tthey had provided a padding pool for the kids then thats where they should have been
Fair enough I think :)

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 16/07/2013 13:00

I work at a cricket club. Considering that wearing sunscreen is seen as an admittance of homosexuality I dread to think what they'd make of this debacle. :o

chazbomb · 16/07/2013 13:17

When you put into a sentence "the 20/30 something year old men were upset that the children were in their paddling pool" it sounds even more ridiculous than it even was! Grin

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 16/07/2013 13:20

Live and let play I say! As I said I work at a CC. I'm going to suggest we do the same but for the kids who come to watch. The men can have a turn if they wish though.

Emilythornesbff · 16/07/2013 13:21

chazbomb Grin so true.

NoComet · 16/07/2013 13:22
